Indoctrination, yes, and that's a good thing.

Thankfully, Catholics get the usefulness of this:

No more or less than singing the national anthem, I suppose.

I fail to see how forced indoctrination is a good thing

Failure to say the The Pledge of Allegiance is a way to identify the undesirables in the United States.

They never turn down the freebies that come from the same country though. What country in the entire civilized world would want an infestation of people like this.

Worst of all, they never leave, no matter what happens you cannot get rid of them. They're like an incurable cancer that destroys all beauty and goodness.

Is it just me is this version of the "Pledge of Allegiance" a little bit more honest? Pledge of Allegiance - The Whitest Kids U'Know on IFC - YouTube

So i ask you this, is the pledge of allegiance a form of brainwashing and indoctrination?
Ha! Great video, a little bit too accurate though.

Yes, you nailed it, EVERYONE who doesn't want to say the pledge of allegiance, or thinks that it's brainwashing our children are all a bunch of moochers and we should deport their sorry asses right?

Is this you by chance?

I don't like the pledge and I think it's brain washing. I can also damn well guarantee I've done more for this country than you ever have or ever will.

So failure to be almost forced to do something makes you an "undesirables "? Talk about individual liberty.

Because when you're no longer the best, it's important to try to brainwash the next generation into continuing to think that you are.

We often disagree on many points but here we agree on one thing that indoctrination is never a good thing

Yeah I've got this crazy idea that concepts should stand on their own merit and not be forced down kids' throats. Even if I were religious, I would never indoctrinate my kids from birth. I want them to learn to think for themselves, and when they're ready, they can make their own decision about what to believe.

This is no different. Why don't instead of having these kids repeat over and over again how awesome America is, we actually do them a favor and make this place awesome. Then we might actually have true loyalty, instead of rehearsed loyalty.

Agree 100%
Forcing something down someones throat does nothing but make them a "yes man" and harms innovation and withholds from the democratic process, withholds freedom, and withholds new ideas, and withholds from progress of the republic itself.

Sieg Heil was a pledge of allegiance to Hitler, the American pledge of allegiance is the same however Hitler is instead the American government. Why is America the Land of the Free again?

I was actually suspended for not standing for the Texas pledge when I was in highschool.

Thats F****** stupid, the only pledge i have had to do is to say that I was going to concentrate in class.

Pledge of Allegiance was written by a radical socialist, so yes I say it's a form of Brainwashing

Just because it's written by a socialist or another reason?

Eh, brainwashing?
Probably not.

Indoctrination? Yeah.

Don't really have a problem with it.

No it is not. Its no different than singing the national anthem or looking at the flag. its a nationalistic gesture and is part of any society

it's in keeping with the foolish notion of "American exceptionalism"

I fail to see how forced indoctrination is a good thing

It's not usually forced so much as normalized.

Even so, the way you make it sound, is that it is dreadful. These are hardly the Vietnamese Reeducation Camps of the past. It's a rather benevolent fostering of nationalism.

It makes sense. Socialists hate America, and Libertarians hate jingoism. Stands to reason that they'd both hate American jingoism.

I pledged allegiance every morning with my class when I was in elementary school. I don't now, nor have I ever felt indoctrinated. It was more of a class camaraderie to me.

Gipper, the American pledge itself was created by a Christian Socialist. Learn to accept what you would otherwise see as good ideas when you see them. For instance, I, no socialist, find that socialist's idea as a pretty good one. Furthermore, try to hide your laughter when a pretty idealistic socialist tells us he doesn't trust indoctrination.

I don't trust indoctrination either, and I'm not a POA fan.

Therefore, the Christian Socialist created something I don't agree with.

Well, I guess there goes one of the few things I can agree with most socialists on, huh?
Therefore
