Well, this seems to be a major topic and point of disagreement, so let's see what people think. Who got more of what they wanted, who got the better deal?

Obama and the Democrats definitely got more as no spending cuts were even considered.

He might not have got all the tax that he wanted but he bent Boehner and the GOP over so bad that they were begging for the ramming they got.

Consider though that the spending cuts have to be resolved in two months, and democrats now have much less leverage in that area.

It depends upon your outlook. We all got less revenue, thus more debt and less deficit reduction. As all money bills now seem to get an exemption (an emergency or crisis is normally declared, as it was for this bill) from the strict "pay as you go" law/rule/wish/policy it is simply encouraging more borrow and spend "compromises" to be made. What this bill did was to lower FIT rates for 98+% of all taxpayers and require a tiny amount of future spending to be delayed. In two months, we are told, the new congress will then honor this (forever?) and agree to address spending "alternatives" to sequestration. I say that the congress critters won, by avoiding the very "crisis" that they created, but that we the sheeple lost, as we will get far less defict reduction (if any at all) from the "compromise" bill(s) than from the "cliff" bill.

I'm neither and they both got what they wanted at the expense of everyone else.

The Republicans got a minuscule tax increase starting at a level of income that is higher than the President of the United States. What a bargain.

The Democrats got to kick the can down the road to be mishandled later. Porkalicious!

Democrats without a doubt, more revenue, no cuts in spending, slam dunk for them

That is a good point and I hope the house lights a fire under them

Is leverage important when negotiating with an empty suit?

the parasitic government got more. the spending cuts are a joke

Since I am a moderate and that was not one of the choices I did not vote. But if the deal passed the middle class won.

This is an excellent point.

How does the middle class win from massive federal gov't deficit spending? Taxation costs upon those that make money from providing goods/services are simply passed on to customer in the form of higher prices for those goods/services, "the rich" are not likely to elect to live in smaller mansions, eat at discount retaurants or drive less expensive cars and simply "eat" the those added taxes imposed. This is the great myth of taxing "the rich", that Obama uses to convince we the sheeple that we may continue to get endless gov't "services" and "entitlements" by simply taxing some anonymous "rich people", businesses or corporations "a bit more".

The simplest and best answer would be that the middle class won since major spending cuts or increased taxes on them would significantly slow recovery.

I fail to see where raising the debt and extending unemployment benefits were a win for the middle class as both shrink it even more.
