Hope I'm wrong... but I think we're in waterfall mode. Not sure hardhats will help, but it's definitely time to tighten that life-jacket. Chances are good we're all going into the brink together... thanks to President Twitter for once again failing to lead.
At least Romney knew how to get more done for less. As president he could have off-shored government jobs to those willing to work for half the price and saved us taxpayers a boatload of money.

I suspect that a minor deal of some sort will be agreed upon, and no real changes will be made, then the dog and pony show will go on as always, until there is absolutely no choice left, but to take a Thelma and Louise-style crash.
Seriously???? You think the entire country is in the place it is right now because of ONE GUY? Nobody else over the last 5 decades has any responsibility for anything? NOBODY??????
Please....how ignorant can you get?

Flip-Flop Robme would have tripled the deficit by more tax cuts for the wealthy and increased defense spending that the Pentagon did not want, ask for, nor need.
Just be glad Flip-Flop Robme lost, and will fade into obscurity.
Ya' damn betcha! He'd a sent them jobs to China right away. No screwin' round. The jobs eleminated would become new people on unemployment. How's zat workin' fer ya'?
It was not an ignorant observation. The responsibility for Obama's failure is shared by everyone who voted for him (even the ones who have been dead for years). The country might survive an Obama presidency, but I'm not sure it can survive an electorate that would give him a second term.
Running a big gov't RINO, like Romney, McCain or Dole is not going to make any difference either. Note that the "Ryan plan", although much feared by the left, would, at best, approach balance of the federal "budget" by 2044, iff the economy growth improved over 100%.
So, you don't think there is any chance they could find a way to make themselves useful?
By your own admission, most members have been there longer than 4 years, so how could the POTUS "begat" something that pre-dated him?Let's don't get carried away with 5 decades. I was referring to the last 4 years of poor leadership in bringing Congress together. Yeah, yeah, Congress stinks and most of those good ole boys & gals have been there for decades... but never before in the history of the US have we had such a do-nothing record. Do you suppose it could have anything to do with the POTUS preferring to twitter and talk to college students about what he wants instead of addressing members of Congress?
Nah, I didn't think you'd agree with that.
Hell, the least he could do is invite John Boehner to play golf with him in the off-chance they might talk biz between mulligans.
Do-nothing President begats Do-nothing Congress.
We've got both.

Zero logic.
The House is under the influence of rw extremism, so long as it is, nothing significant will get through to the POTUS's desk to sign. Boehner has no control over the extremists, his hands are tied as the debt limit negotiations 1 1/2 years ago showed, there is nothing that can be done even when direct talks happen between him and the President.
EXCLUSIVE: WHD Obtains Obama Plan to Fix Economy!

White House Dossier has just obtained President Obama’s plan to roll back the crushing long term costs of entitlements, reduce unemployment, and spur the economy back to normal growth.
Given the importance of this information, we decided to share the plan with you immediately. Here it is:
I think it’s clear that, despite having taken time out for golf three times already since Election Day, Obama is on the job. I hope you are as reassured as I am.
Trying to negotiate with Boehner is pointless since he does not speak for the controlling interests in the House. You just can't seem to grasp the dynamics of the House, let alone what I have said so far.Sounds like you're saying there's no sense in trying to negotiate, so Obama shouldn't even try. Sounds like his logic... you're a good lil soldier.
Here's another view on the subject:
