the state of Kalfornia describes certain pistols as "assault weapons" the defining features include

1) semi auto mechanism

2) a detachable magazine

3) that is forward of the trigger assembly

when they intended to ban this

they also managed to ban this 2 thousand dollar olympic target pistol that has never been reported used in a crime

There are three SCotUS decisions that deal directly w/ the 2nd, the first of which was in 1939. 2012-1939 < 200

And, yes, if the issue cam back up, there's little question that a liberal court would over turn Heller, regardless of what else had been built upon in.
