Unlike some, I will take this poll for what it's worth. I believe Navy was speaking in terms of Catholics and Protestants who do in fact make up the VAST majority of the Christian population.

Most of those religions covered under protestant are against the things Navy mentioned in the OP. Obviously there are invidividuals who have slightly different beliefs than the religion they practice. However, Navy can't account for that so he must base his comments off of the tenants of each religion.
As far as the OP,
I believe that Christians should re-think their stance on SSM. IMO, SSM is a freedom issue, not a Christian issue. If we allow the gov't to put its nose into the realm of marriage in the manner many Christians want the gov't to, we are opening up a can of worms that doesn't need to be opened. Granted, I don't believe our current gov't would use the precedent of being able to dictate who can and can't be married to accomplish some secret alterior motive. However, we need to stop thinking in terms of now. Who's to say future politicians wouldn't? SSM doesn't affect anyone. It only affects the individuals engaging in it. Therefore, they should be allowed to do so. If you don't like it, don't go to the wedding. If you don't want to see them holding hands, move along or stay home. So, on SSM, no I don't think Christians should be so quick to write this off as an automatic vote. However, if an anti-SSM candidate should present him/herself who fits what I am looking for in a candidate, I would vote for them.
On abortion, I believe it all depends on where you stand on personhood. I believe a human being is created the minute the egg is fertilized. In fact, I would say the precedent is there to enforce that. The Unborn Victims of Violence Act is that precedent. I am aware that this act contains a provision stating that it cannot be used to prosecute abortion.

I believe abortion should be a Federal matter and should be made illegal. One of the primary roles of the Federal gov't is to protect people from other people ie militarily, through regulations, etc. This fits that category. One person is harmed by another person. Said person being harmed in defenseless. All of this definitely fits EVERY Christian religion's beliefs. If any Christian deviates from this they are wrong
IMO. Some Christians could view it differently, however, I would like to see where they can find support for that opinion in the Bible. To be clear, I am speaking of abortion in the instance of convenience, rape, or choice based on non-health related issues. If a woman is deemed to be at risk of dieing or her baby is deemed the same, I think that is a case where abortion is an option. Partial birth abortion is absolutely barbaric. Any person that supports that needs to get their head checked. Plain and simple.
