The pointless partisan political hack messages cease after the election? They just strike me as messages by exorbitantly weak-willed, no-mind sheeple.

Regardless of the winner *cough Obama cough* i'm sure this board, and this country will settle down politically. Perhaps the hyper partisanship will subside for a few years so we can get something done..until the next election cycle.

Of course not, they never have shut up.

The worst of it will die down, but there will always be some users who will be partisans to the end. Election season brings out the worst in partisans. Those who are physically incapable of criticizing their own party for the behaviors they criticize the other will never quiet down.

They didn't before. There is no reason to believe they will after.

I dunno. I felt that after the election in 2008 it died down considerably. And on Whistlestopper in 2004, it was really bad and then after a month things went back to how they were before election season. Granted, this is a particularly polarized election, but aside from a handful of hackjobs who never shut up about anything, I think the most part things should calm down.

Back in 2008, things remained pretty intense for about 2 months. Then things died down a bit... however, anytime ANY issue came up, things would escalate to near pre-election intensity again. I remember when Obamacare was on the voting block and got passed. The hackery around here was just as bad as during the 2008 election. At least one long-time poster had a meltdown and got banned.

That whole Avengers line just flashed into my head, where Hawkeye says says to black widow "You and I remember Budapest very differently "

I honestly don't remember those flare ups. But then again I was deep in my CPA exam so that's probably why I don't recall that. Anywho we can hope and pray it's not a blood bath after the election.

Yeah, you've gone through some stretches when you're not here. I'm here everyday. It's also been worse because the forum's gotten MUCH bigger.

It really all depends on who each one of us consider to be 'hacks". I have my definition but it may be 180 from yours or 90 or 22 or whatever. I think if Romney loses the right will decry about the future of this country until 2016. If Obama loses ditto.

It would be nice if the entrenchment let up alittle but considering the level it hits on this site (which is much less than on others) it does seem unlikely.

Nope. After the election we go deep into the land of Alternate Realities.

it will ease back some, but it's sure to remain. I would cite opposition behavior during second terms of Clinton and Bush. this assumes Obama prevails. should he lose, I expect Romney will receive similar venom. we live in a very partisan period in American history.

Do you mean on DP, or in general? No matter. Either way, the answer is no. The political hacks have picked their team, and will continue to root for it regardless of what happens.

You mean like they did after Obama was elected in 2008? Lots of luck with that one.

It seemed like there could be discussions about issues more before the election got crazy. There was always fingerpointing and nonsense, but I think there's more now than there was when I first joined.
