I hear quite often how the Left is disappointed in Obama. My quess is most of you dont think in is far enough to the left.

Thats nice for you.

None of the above...

The single biggest reason I will not vote for Obama is his attacks on civil liberties in this country. He had great rhetoric coming into 2008, but what happened? He signed an extension of the Patriot Act, was slick about adding provisions in the yearly NDAA legislation which said the military could arrest America citizens and they could be held indefinitely without the rights of trial or habaes corpus, allows drones to fly over American cities (youtube has one that was found over Chicago).

His blatant disregard for our Constitutional rights should have everyone outraged, but a lot are apathetic or content because they fell it gives them security when that is an illusion.

Because he isnt actually progressive
We are still in Afghanistan
Drone strikes
Repression of whistleblowers
didnt get single payer
passed the bush tax cuts

I think he and the DNC acted like bitches to much. They tried to rationalize with a side that was becoming increasingly irrational and obstructive. They of course are paying for that now, and they have four years to get their **** together or the dems will play just as nasty as they have been for the foreseeable future and they will lose.

His arrogance troubles me the most.

Could that have been related to use by the Coast Guard on the Great Lakes? This is the first I have heard of it.

Granted, Obama should have vetoed those bills, the fault still lies in the source. Remember, the Republicans wrote the defense bill. If we are to fire Obama over that, we should fire them as well.

Just curious, you know that pretty much every President in the last century has **** on the Constitution no?

I'm disappointed in the President's golf game.

I didn't like Obama before he became President because of his desire to enact the liberal agenda. I don't like him now because he's enacted portions (at least as far as he's been able to) of the liberal agenda and because of that, he's not addressed, effectively, the economic problems the country was saddled with. I also add his failures in the foreign relations department. Anything that wasn't already laid out for him by Bush and others...he's screwed up. Big time.

None of the above.

He is too radical Islamic oriented ... always apologizing for the West way of life.

He is too radical Islamic oriented

Seriously what the **** is happening... is this an episode of the twilight zone?

I thought he was a radical Marxist?

Or a black liberation Theoliogan...

I can never keep up with the rights attacks on him, they're schizophrenic.

Yes. many people can be schizophrenic ...that's life you know!

Worse yet, there is no White House cat. Cats are magical and would prevent bad things from happening. Clinton's success came from Socks.

Of course, in the end, Clinton betrayed Socks and Hillary. Tsk Tsk. Obama hasn't even tried. Bush didn't have a cat either and look what a crappy President he was.

How can these people lead us when they can't even accept a basic fact?

LOL  that is funny! it's sweet!

I am disappointed in his attempts to reason with those who are unreasonable in his foreign relations policy. I am please about his banking legislation and his treatment of US veterans.

He didn't really address the systemic problems that led to financial crisis.

I'm disappointed that he's turned out not to be a very good communicator, which I expected would be one of his strongest qualities.

Five issues with Obama, some of which I think he did okay but I think could have been done smarter:

1. Disagreement on social issues.

2. Hyper-sensitive to not offending the Middle East, which under the circumstances I get but at least in one situation that I won't mention created a huge double standard where it was terrible to offend them but perfectly okay to do things offensive to what I'll call western sensitivities in ways that would be condemned in the strongest terms if it had been reversed.

3. Failure to recognize initially the root cause of the unemployment problem, global outsourcing and automation. It seems he was initially dealing with it as a cyclical problem that could be corrected by priming the economic pump and not a paradigm shift where corporate interests had permanently eliminated American jobs. I do think he sees the situation more clearly now.

4. Dealing with the healthcare problem through the traditional employer-based group insurance plan model. I prefer getting employers out of the mix and replacing health insurance with consumer chosen direct hospital memberships. This eliminates at least three middle-men who all want their own profits rolled into the costs. I think allowing kids to stay on patents' plan was a great idea. I support mandates and think it should be rolled into mortgage escrows or rent to ensure payment. I support excluding per-existing conditions as justification to deny hospital memberships or charge higher membership costs but I do support membership rebate bonuses paid back for healthy lifestyle choices. Flat membership rate where you don't pay extra for anything other than your membership dues renewable annually where all the hospitals compete for your and your family's membership driving down costs and raising quality while the healthcare customer is in the driver's seat, not their employer.

5. When he first took office he poured a bunch of money into Wall Street. Prior to the money being handed over a letter to the editor appeared in a Florida newspaper that I think was a fabulous idea using the exact amount of money. It was suggested to take that money headed to Wall Street and instead give I think it was $500,000 checks to every working American age 50 and older with the following requirements as conditions of eligibility. A). Quit working. This will create a bunch of job openings and need for businesses to hire. B). Buy a new American-made car. This will take care of the auto-industry and related industry's like advertisement, etc. slump. C). Pay off their mortgages in full. This would give a bunch of money to the mortgage industry and care of the problems they were experiencing. All the money would have stayed in America and the requirements forced it to go to work helping the economy. Instead, Wall Street execs got the money, paid themselves bonuses and probably invested a lot of it in Asia.

I'm disappointed that he's turned out not to be a very good communicator, which I expected would be one of his strongest qualities.

You expected what? :lamo Why is it that everyone thought he was a good communicator in 2008? Did anyone pay attention at all before that point?

None of these are really accurate. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the job Obama has done. But of the options you listed:

He promised to get us out of Afganistan

His Afghanistan policy is certainly something that disappoints me...it's been a total disaster. However, he didn't actually promise that, so I can't vote for this option.

Yeah but that was going to be a disaster from the start. My former teacher who was a marine back in 2001 foretold it would end badly. He was on the mark 11 years ago. Successful COIN operations in Afghanistan always overlooked the one massive problem: no real economy.

Welcome to the Mya debate of school. I suggest you don't press it any further. It will end in tears.

Absolutely...not going to deny that at all...I was only commenting on this particular president.
