Why I am disappointed in Obama

I am disappointed in Obama because

None of the above...

The single biggest reason I will not vote for Obama is his attacks on civil liberties in this country. He had great rhetoric coming into 2008, but what happened? He signed an extension of the Patriot Act, was slick about adding provisions in the yearly NDAA legislation which said the military could arrest America citizens and they could be held indefinitely without the rights of trial or habaes corpus, allows drones to fly over American cities (youtube has one that was found over Chicago).

His blatant disregard for our Constitutional rights should have everyone outraged, but a lot are apathetic or content because they fell it gives them security when that is an illusion.

I'm not American, but that exactly.

How can any US citizen be dissappointed with a US president

Let us list the prerequisites and attributes in a US president that the Corpocratic fascist tyranny will allow into the Oval Office.

1. A US presidential puppet MUST be a pro war, imperial militant that totally ignores international laws and treaties - great for profits
2. A US presidential puppet MUST act to water down what remains of that great US constitution and bill of rights
3. A US presidential pupper MUST always ensure that tax payers money is funneled into corporate welfare and enriching the already rich
4. A US presidential puppet MUST always reduce the taxes for the rich and direct tax payer money away from basic community services
5. A US presidental pupper MUST always put the interests of the Plotocratic Corpocratic fascist tyranny ahead of the interests of the AMerican people.
6. A US presidential puppet MUST never feel guity about carrying out his duties as a puppet
7. A US presidential puppet MUST always lie to protect his puppet masters

Obama has done very well indeed - continued in the great traditions of cowardly immoral presidential puppets that were permitted to enter the oval office before him

None of the above.

He is too radical Islamic oriented ... always apologizing for the West way of life.

As far as his penchant for apologizing for America, I sort of get but at the same time understand why it offends Americans. In post 9/11 and the lead up to the invasion of Iraq I did some independent study in efforts to comprehend the strong anti-Americanism in the Middle East. At the time I thought America was the beacon of hope to the world and admired by people the world over. I was utterly shocked at the things I learned that Americans by and large have no idea of but is common knowledge outside of America especially in the Middle East, who's media specializes in defaming the US. Obama is trying to walk a narrow line in building and promoting positive attitudes toward America in the Middle East in the interest of national security in bloodless a way possible while not talking defensive military action off of the table. The casualty of this is people in America who as I was, are ignorant of America's convert activities during the the Cold War period that of commonly known by the man on the street in the Middle East but not in America are offended and think he's throwing America under the bus.

Im not thrilled with obama and hes not the best man to be president....I didnt vote for him the first time, I voted for Mcain....but the teaparty far right and their agenda is worse than obama as far as im concerned.
The republican house is the worst I can remember in my lifetime...its worthless and its record if not the worst is certainly one of the worst. All they talk about is tax cuts...thats their entire agenda....WERE GOING TO REPEAL OBAMACARE AND WE NEED TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH TO SPUR THE ECONOMY.....SIGN THIS PLEDGE I WILL NOT RAISE TAXS no matter how many bodies lie in the street no matter how broke the country gets no matter how bad anything is or gets...bah baloney

Obama Has A Love Affair going.... sadly it s Not with America .........., America is Not...... TOP Priority, on Obamas list,

when you have a president that represents , what America is, and what Americans have fought and died to keep and still fighting for,
Obama, doesn't make America and its people His First and Top priority, America seems to be somewhere At the bottom of His List.
'that.
is my main disappointment with obama.

I'm upset that he hasn't done more for civil rights. There's still way too much sexism, religious bigotry, oppression of gays, and racism. Just as a matter of policy, bigotry is still the status quo far too often. I'm also disappointed that he didn't follow through on his plan to boost education. He had a much better plan for that than Hillary did, which is one of the main reasons I supported him and not her.

It would be pretty cool to have an actual left wing politican to vote for in 2016.

Just what would you expect him (or any other politician) to do, regarding civil rights. Civil rights implies equal treatment and opportunity. It is impossible to legislate the way people believe, or the way people feel. Only actions can be subject to legislation. No political leader can force everyone be of the same mind.

Because Obama has never been a President for all the people.

Every speech he gives he talks about the enemy or the other side.

People like to talk about Romney's comment but it is Obama who is not President to all the people.

I'm disappointed in the whole election. They are handing us two plates of "insert derogative" and asking us which one we want to eat.

Obama though makes me realize how pathetic our country has become when a man can win an election from simply being a community organizer. Change is just a word if you don't actually do anything worthwhile. I'm not saying I disagree with everything he says just what he does.

I hear quite often how the Left is disappointed in Obama. My quess is most of you dont think in is far enough to the left.

Always try to put in a others option.

Here's a few

1.He didn't do much about nuclear energy, which is the energy of the future. Here Romney actually gets a check in his column. Obama supports offshore drilling which is a bit of a turn off, but if they really can do it safely that's ok. Problem is they can't and the risk is not worth the reward as petroleum will be outdated in a few decades.

2.Debt is admittedly a bit high and he did promise to cut it. But it's expected, no surprize there given the economy he was handed. Good news is we'r actually paying less net interest (not just %) than before, even with the higher nominal debt.

3.Recently on a hispanic talk show he was asked why he didn't do much about immigration reform, he really didn't have much to say cause it's true. It's not a key issue for me but we do need to look into our immigration problems.

4.Guantanamo I think should've been closed.

He is getting us out of Afghanistan soon
We are out of a recession and been in a recovery

All and all I think he did a good job as president, and I think Romney's record in the private sector raises great concern. His years as governor were mediocre at best.

Worse yet, there is no White House cat. Cats are magical and would prevent bad things from happening. Clinton's success came from Socks.

Of course, in the end, Clinton betrayed Socks and Hillary. Tsk Tsk. Obama hasn't even tried. Bush didn't have a cat either and look what a crappy President he was.

How can these people lead us when they can't even accept a basic fact?

I'm a dog person he's got my vote =P. It's low to criticize Bo.

Where did I criticize Bo? Bo is welcome to drool and bark all over the White House.

Cats have magical properties. Used to be no ship would leave harbor without a ship's cat aboard.

I'm not asking for vote changes. Hell, Romney has a dog also (rather famous dog actually). I'm just trying to get them to do what's right for America.

There is some of that for some of us, but a lot of that is related to health care reform.

Also, he didn't promise to get us out of Afghanistan. he promised to refocus efforts there as it was where the priority should have been, and not the snipe hunt in Iraq.

I'm sure Obama will get a cat if it means 1 more vote. Least his daughters will.

Obama's daughters have allergies. That's why they had to find a hypo-allergenic dog.

interesting take
if only Obama had stray ***** around the white house like clinton, he would have been a better president

Obama has disappointed me in so many ways
- did not come out in obvious support of the recommendations of the Bowles-simpson report
- patriot act re-established without his veto
- too big to fail banks are even bigger
- geithner who was a big part of the melt down is still a big part of the problem
(geitner's) treasury is prohibiting sound community banks from making prudent loans to small business
- NAFTA still exists, giving the world's foremost market to foreign concerns to the detriment of domestic business
- single payer was avoided so that we now are MANDATED to purchase health coverage from the insurance industry
- dubya, cheney, rummy, and company are still walking free as a bird despite massive evidence to show their violations of American and international law
- assented to canadian oil sands-pipeline
- GE pays no taxes. like over 50% of other corporate America
- continued taxpayer loopholes for the rich
more war ... so much for change we can believe in
- no glass-stegall, instead a watered down dodd-frank where the regulations have not been written three years later
- attorney general is either a liar or an incompetent and is still on the job
- bunker busters sold to israel
- panetta head of DoD after screwing up his term at CIA
- dubya tax cuts extended
- nothing has been done to address the reality of climate change
- walked away from supporting the unions in wisconsin, ohio, michigan
- failed to support occupy wall st
- NO prosecution of bank executives
- mortgage HAMP refi program mismanaged
- $Trillions spent to cover fannie mae, freddie mac, ginnie mae losses ... despite there being NO federal obligation to do so after they were privatized
- loans money to banks at discount window rate of $7500 per $1million (.75%); redeems bonds from banks at $30,000 per $1million (3%), thereby forking over taxpayer dollars to the banks at the rate of $22,500 per $1million borrowed
- clarence thomas' failure to declare income for multiple years and NO investigation
- gitmo still open with no end in sight
- appointed a bunch of politicians who could run a campaign but who were unable to run a government
- refusal to cut off israeli money when israel refused to cease construction in the disputed territories

and he is still better than mitt

but much worse than Jill Stein or Gary Johnson

Wow. Very good post! I agree with some of your statements:

- did not come out in obvious support of the recommendations of the Bowles-simpson report - Must research
- patriot act re-established without his veto - yeah, big disappointment but no real surprise
- too big to fail banks are even bigger - yes, ridiculous
- geithner who was a big part of the melt down is still a big part of the problem
(geitner's) treasury is prohibiting sound community banks from making prudent loans to small business - Keeping Geithner and Bernakey was a shock to me
- NAFTA still exists, giving the world's foremost market to foreign concerns to the detriment of domestic business - not sure how to get out of that mess
- single payer was avoided so that we now are MANDATED to purchase health coverage from the insurance industry - the Obamacare bill is the most overblown legislation ever. I could have written a better bill myself.
- dubya, cheney, rummy, and company are still walking free as a bird despite massive evidence to show their violations of American and international law - well, understandable
- assented to canadian oil sands-pipeline - not familiar
- GE pays no taxes. like over 50% of other corporate America - this is just plain disturbing
- continued taxpayer loopholes for the rich - GOP opposition is part of the problem to be fair
more war ... so much for change we can believe in
- no glass-stegall, instead a watered down dodd-frank where the regulations have not been written three years later - once again, it seems that bankers write their own laws
- attorney general is either a liar or an incompetent and is still on the job - agreed
- bunker busters sold to israel - I'm OK with that
- panetta head of DoD after screwing up his term at CIA - no familiar
- dubya tax cuts extended - GOP resistance and Obama's small balls
- nothing has been done to address the reality of climate change - America? Reality? We're incapable of this
- walked away from supporting the unions in wisconsin, ohio, michigan - unfamiliar
- failed to support occupy wall st - actually, I think he did up to a point
- NO prosecution of bank executives - yup. Disgusting.
- mortgage HAMP refi program mismanaged - all these housing programs are written by idiots.
- $Trillions spent to cover fannie mae, freddie mac, ginnie mae losses ... despite there being NO federal obligation to do so after they were privatized = agreed
- loans money to banks at discount window rate of $7500 per $1million (.75%); redeems bonds from banks at $30,000 per $1million (3%), thereby forking over taxpayer dollars to the banks at the rate of $22,500 per $1million borrowed - Yup. I've bitched long and loud about this money shuffle that help a few billionaies make even more money. Revolting.
- clarence thomas' failure to declare income for multiple years and NO investigation - never heard about this.
- gitmo still open with no end in sight - Mostly a NIMBY problem. Americans are scared of everything.
- appointed a bunch of politicians who could run a campaign but who were unable to run a government - evidently
- refusal to cut off israeli money when israel refused to cease construction in the disputed territories - I support Israel but they really play us don't they. They have ZERO respect for us and they don't care that we see it.

I am not disappointed in Obama ... considering the downward spiral this country was heading in ... I would give him a B+. He is very much a centrist so the far left are not going to appreciate him.

While I agree with some of the comments ... I only expected progress, not a magician to clean up the mess.

A second term will be forward progress.

If he wins I think he should grow a fro and go full throttle!
