There are dozens of dictators all over the world, many who are worse than Saddam. It certainly wasn't worth the cost. More Iraqis have died in insurgent attacks since we came in in 2003 than under Saddam.

AMEN! People just can't comprehend this. These meaningless wars and the terrorist threat are fabrications designed to further private agendas. Would we not be far better off if we just worried about ourselves and protected our own borders? Not Israel, not Iraq, but the United States of America. The USA is who the USA should protect. How it got to be that we need to worry about Israel and put Israel's needs ahead of Americans is beyond me.

Imagine that after desert storm we never involved ourselves over there. Add up all the money spent on this crap since after desert storm and add it back into our economy as if we never spent it. Bring back all of the soldiers as if they'd never died. We have nothing to prove and I'm quite certain nobody cares to challenge our military superiority so besides the trillions we would have saved and the lives we wouldn't have lost, WHAT WOULD BE DIFFERENT? Saddam would still be there (oh no jeez) Bottom line is that the only real differences are all positive and the negatives are all inconsequential. I don't care about Israel and after 911 and the USS Liberty we can surmise that they really don't like us either. I don't care if they all blow eachother up - those are decisions THEY have to make.

Now how do we change out congress? They don't listen to us anymore and the way they deceptively pass bills that are unlawful and unconstitutional- THEY GOTTA GO!! I'm telling you if we let this continue we are just begging for trouble.

I know there are bad people everywhere. I can imagine a veterinary Captain believing he is the King of the World. I can imagine a 3-star general believing he is a minor deity.

It is interesting to watch how long it takes for some of them to realize they are no longer general officers once they reenter civilian life. For some the transition is very quick and they succeed. For others it takes longer and people wonder why.

Absolutely great post. I still say what i said, but you are absolutely right. the double dippers are the worst. they have never had to deal with civi's at that level or number and still think we should salute or bow whenever they walk by.

Yep. Try to report wasteful military spending to a congressman and they'll just laugh "Who doesn't, son?"

When I worked for DOD our super was hiding our official environmental regulatory reports in her locked drawer which is not only a felony under RCRA (federal hazardous waste law) but she was puttin our butt on the line since we would have been held equally liable. go figure.
So some of us reported what she was doing to our local congressmen with handwritten copies of the reports. the congressman tried to get something going in DC but all he could get was a congressal audit of the facility which went no where.
We also reported this to the FBI and gave them copies of our notes which promptly got lost. somehow.

Not saying this does not happen in other agencies but it just seemed so convinient as to how this all played out.

War is a racket. How else you gonna keep the hundreds of defence contractors profitable and keep workers employed.

War is a business to them. If there is no war, they have to start one or they lose profits. Exorbitant profits.. OUR TAX DOLLARS>>>>>>"DEFENSE" SPENDING>>>>>TRILLIONS>>> MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. Do you honestly think we would be in any more "danger" had we not been at war the last two decades and spent zillions? Could you maybe see how they might have contrived these wars for profit and/or private agenda?

Poll Question: Am I crazy to say that those who run the "military industrial complex" have hijacked our government and are sucking us dry?

I lean more toward saying oil interests who operate what is essentially a monopoly on personal transportation have found themselves in a situation where they are too central to the American economy. Without intentionally planning to do so, they have the country in the most serious national security dilemma since WWII where we have two options:

1. Modernize the energy sector by converting to alternatives to the greatest extent possible as quickly as possible.
2. Kill our way out of it by eliminating security threats militarily with the understanding that the part of the world we presently depend upon for oil and will continue to depend upon is populated by people who hate us, always will and are willing to engage in acts of violence against us until we are completely out of their midst.

Imagine if Iraq $$$$ had been spent in USA..................

Iraq war costs instead used to run hospitals

$1,900B cost of Iraq

Would run 380 Full Hospitals ($125mil yr) for 40 years, never sending out a bill to any US citizen or business.

No insurance
No recision
No 26,000 deaths a year
no bankrupcys
No medicaid-care, VA, byzantine HC all gone.

Nobody cares. They are so brainwashed by the media that you can't convince them of what their own eyes and ears should be telling them! I just started a thread
http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-co...-discussion-utmost-importance-enter-here.html
where I'm attempting to inform everyone that yesterday the government filed an appeal to the permanent injunction of sec. 1021 of NDAA and were granted an emergency stay on the injunction of sec. 1021. Basically, under those vague terms, we have no more civil rights. We need to wake up. They are demonstratingt a voracious desire to reserve the right to indefinitely detain anybody they want to and do you think anyone cares? 25 views and not one single reply. What is this? People WANT to have no rights? To be indefinitely detained? People demonstrate and make a huge deal about abortion but ignore something that will have the most chilling effects on our lives. Where can I find people who want to try to stop this?
