I could think of dozens of cases, from all over Africa and Asia where slavery was far, far worse. Like China for instance. Slaves have been used as building blocks in the Great Wall when they couldn't work anymore. I don't recall that practice used in the USA. But what do I know. It doesn't mean that slavery in the USA was better, but it is far from the worst. Slavery in Africa is another instance that comes to mind. African tribal leaders would often go to war with other tribes and enslave them in order to conduct slave trade... slavery in India during the Murghal Empire. A muslim minority ruled over millions of hindus whom also endured several mass murders because muslims hated hindus. So no... western slavery was one of the kindest in history. In the Roman Empire, having well-fed and well-clothed slaves was a sign of prestige and honor.

As for the white race, we had our share of suffering... and it was plenty. I can't believe you are so heartless as to disconsider the immense tragedies of history so casually... so... ignorantly. I just have no words. I am not being vague by any length... I am genuinely not able to comprehend these statements. I cannot believe anyone can be so... I don't have a word for it. But it is ignorant and racist and hateful at the power of 10.

It's also true that racism is a much bigger politicized topic in America than it is in the rest of the world, or for that matter, in any culture besides white and black Americans. You ever hang out with Asians in an asian community? Racist as ****, and they don't give a rats ass about it.
But it's not just slavery, though. It's racism. The Chinese were subjugated to white supremacy just as much as the blacks were, they just didn't complain as loudly, and their case was never much studied in high school textbooks. Which is why I originally wanted to quote this post, since you brought up the Great Wall, as when it comes to the Chinese, the building of the Transcontinental railroad comes to mind.

Kindest in history? Ok, sure, I guess, but let's not forget that it was brutal here, too.

what? within the last 300 years or so only a hand-full of people of the "white race" had it good. And when we are talking on a world scale throughout history whites have had just as much hardship as anyone else.
You are grouping the feelings and incidences of all white people throughout our history into one entity and saying it was better then people of others?

Back on topic, I believe there are those who will not see past the party will never vote for the other party, no matter what.

What percent that is of the voting public is difficult to determine.

Have heard several white folks, a county commissioner and district judge both see race as an issue. One thought it was the perfect time for people to move into the Republican ticket in local races as many older folks won't be voting straight party ticket because of that 'nappy headed Jessie Jackson looking communist', the other was of the opinion that if Obama won the blacks would get payback. There would be a backlash on whites in government positions as the blacks would take over everything.

Again, not sure what percent of the voting public think that either...

Since the Civil Rights Movement passed a century after the War of Northern Aggression minorities have strongly supported the Democrat Party, southern whites have shifted to the Party of Lincoln.

I watch as some post praise for a few Republican blacks, but they do seem to be a small flock of odd ducks. Not likely to draw much attention from any stripe of progressive or liberal.

You're right. I was grouping all people as one entity and I shouldn't have done that.

That being said, I still stand by what I said. I don't see view the term "white trash" as offensive I view the "N" word.
 
I don't think there is any doubt that many blacks vote for Obama because he's black. Why wouldn't they? I think there are at least some in any race that vote that way.

That is the problem.

Black people have suffered no more than any other 'race'. They don't seem to have a problem calling each other the N word. They got no problem calling us crackers. No one in Japan, Korea or China has a problem calling me a round-eye.

But God forbid a white person says something!

So, because a black person may use the "N" word, that should make it alright for white people to use it?

And at least in the United States, why should the word "cracker" be equated to the "N" word? What makes the word "cracker" so offensive, at least in the United States?

It is the correct word to use in the case of blacks who live in the ghettos and propagate that type of environment. It would very, very wrong to call Neil Degrasse Tyson a nigger. Why? because one is a proper individual who values civility and advancement... the other is a lowlife whose message and personal value sinks to bottom of the moral fiber. Cracker is a derogatory term towards white people. The same as "N" is a derogatory term towards black people. Its hard to miss the equivalency of the intention of the use of the words.

Its really simple. Unemployment and economic devastation continues to hit minority communities the hardest. 4 years after this particular democrat took office, its worse not better. There is little reason for them to be excited about going to the polls and voting at ALL. But thats not going to stop this guy...

Ok. So then you consider that I should use the same word to describe people like Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Lil'wayne? You think that is fair? because I see it as offensive and counter-progressive. If you want people to want to move to the correct direction, you must use the correct words. You cannot call a loser and a successful man the same thing. You just cannot because if you do, you get nowhere.
