I watched a show the other day where where the Moderator went on the street and told Obama voters that Obama is Pro Life, against all abortions, and against equal rights for gays.........90% of them said they knew that already and were still going to vote for him so the question begs to be asked..........

I wouldn't vote for Nancy Pelosi for president just because she's a woman.
Or Ted Kennedy (RIP) because he's of Irish descent.
Or Joe Blow because he's left handed.

Having something a-political in common with a candidate, no matter how significant that connection is, isn't enough if our ideologies are too far apart.

I would tend to think most people feel that way.

So in answer to the OP: It's possible, but it's also equally unlikely. It would probably be more, "I'm so excited that the first serious contender to be the first black president shares my ideologies!"

Nope, especially given the equally disproportionate margin by which Gore, Kerry, Clinton and others have won the black vote in recent memory.

What an idiotic, racist question. An overwhelming majority of blacks have voted for every Democratic presidential candidate for a long time, including white folks like John Kerry, Al Gore, and Bill Clinton. In fact, in the rare circumstances when there is a white Democrat and a black Republican on the ballot (e.g. the 2006 Maryland Senate race), most black voters have STILL backed the white Democrat.

Perhaps it's because they agree with the Democrats on the issues more. Or perhaps it's because the Republicans totally alienate them via moronic race-baiting like this thread.

Not at all...

why would you ask such a question?

My black friends vote for him because they are Democrats who support what he is selling...they voted for Clinton on the same reasoning...and Kerry in '04.

Race isn't the issue...the policies are

Most blacks will vote for Obama because he's a democrat. That's the number one reason. Second's because he's black. They really don't have any other reasons to vote for him. Unemployment is much higher for blacks and is close to 50% for black teens. The black Christian Church is offended by his support for gay marraige. He is taking their vote for granted. Hardly any will vote for Romney, but some may decide to stay home on election day.

I think many turned out to vote for him because he is black, which is understandable since he is the first black (mixed) president. Most in the black community will vote Democrat anyway regardless of if the Democrat running is white or black.

How you explain about the way blacks answered the questions on Obama's policies? It showed they knew nothing about Obama's stand on these issues and they voted for him any way?

No, I don't think most black people are racist idiots.

If you ask enough people political questions you'll find plenty of uneducated idiots to use to create any kind of message you want. Jay Leno does it quite often, Howard Stern's done it, a lot of people do it. The only way to get a representative pulse on the black community would be to survey them on a grand scale and include all results, not just those that support the producer's intended message.

No. Kerry won 88% of the black vote, so definitely not most. I'm sure there are some people who'd vote for him because he's black, and I'm sure there are people who'd vote against him because he's black, but I'm not sure which group is bigger.

There were numerous videos out right after Obama was elected questioning his supporters, white and black, why they voted for him. The majority were ignorant of his actual positions. The American media and entertainment industries are responsible for this.

The black community probably will vote for Obama because he is a Democrat not because he is black. However if you had two democrats running for office, one non black and also Obama, then I do believe you would find many that would vote for him based on skin color. However I think this is a natural reaction in many people and in any race. If you know little about a person your first reaction is to prefer someone who appears to be most like you.

Its nice to see White people are colorblind on this issue and its sad that most blacks are not.

What? There's a lot missing there. According to your OP, race was never a factor. Also, there's a notable lack of citation.

Of course that's why. That's also why there was a huge bi-partisan movement by black voters to support Herman Cain.

I'm not going to argue that some black folks are voting for him because of his race..that has been clearly stated...I'm saying that a majority are voting for him because of his policies that they have supported over the years from Clinton to Kerry to now Obama

LMAO history, facts and stats disagree with you and this no other logic to support such a silly claim

That is true but I am prettty sure Cain was not going to get the black vote.

again I ask? How you explain about the way blacks answered the questions on Obama's policies? It showed they knew nothing about Obama's stand on these issues and they voted for him any way?

Do you think that those people interviewed represent "most blacks?"

I think Obama being black has something to do with his appeal towards getting the black people's vote. At least it certainly did in the last elections.

Many blacks, especially religious ones, are against Obama for standing up for the homosexuals and the gay marriage thing. Many... will still support him.

I would think it would be best if people would stop making simple polls with just yes and no in regards to questions that are more complex. It would be nice to have more logical and thorough discussions and proper polls to boot.

Against Bush both Gore and Kerry both got in the high 80% area... Obama got in the high nineties...which would be about 2 million more black votes.........
