Typo in poll, change reach to reaching in option 3 and 4.

I fell like when it comes to politics almost no one left is open minded. I'm able to have a few intelligent debates here and there but I highly doubt I've changed any one's vote.

Feel is spelled incorrectly in your question/poll options.

You have to realize that most people who participate in online political forums aren't strangers to the world of politics. You will always find people who are narrow minded and rude, but then you will also find people who will have a productive conversation/debate with you.

It's politics, after all. It's not all going to be rainbows and unicorns.

I used to believe that it would be impossible to change people's minds on any real political issues. However, since I've been on DP, I have seen it happen a couple times, although they are few and far between. For the vast majority of internet posters though, unless something aligns with there views, I think they discard it. As for a big change, like something that would change their vote, I'm not sure that's really possible to do on these websites.

I am not sure anyone is trying to change another's mind ... most here are expressing their pov and having an exchange or discussion on topics.

I think it's possible to be persuasive, and I wouldn't be so quick to assume you've had no effect, shiang. You've got far more readers than just those who reply to you directly.

yes.. most words fall on deaf ears here... and every other political forum in existence.

With a few exceptions, most people are open to discussion I think. I've stated in the OP that I have had good discussions.

I've learned a few good things about Romney that are true my self too. He's done a good job with the Salt Lake Olympics, he helped kick off staples in his early career. I still stand by my view that for the majority and the latter part of his work at Bane Capital he was more interested in stuffing the pockets and of his investors and himself, than growing a business.

I have reached some folks on issues/topics that most people do not think about, because they aren't all that familiar with the topic. Everything else, it's a sparing match.

i'm not really out to change anyone's vote. i'm mostly interested in discussing ideas, brainstorming theories about getting the country back on track, and general community interaction.

Ive gained knowledge through information Ive gleened from this forum but I also get that many other places. Im as closed minded as anyone else is on a few topics. I realize that, there needs to be more individuals realizing that they are. Outside of the few topics im locked into for the most part I try to be open minded. One thing I have come to believe...I was a republican along time, decades and I frequented two forums both where more conservative than anything else and one was pretty much one sided conservative. Viewing things from the opposite perspective have made me realize how closed minded conservatives are...or at least ive got that perception now....I dont think anyones mind gets changed to any great degree on debate politics forum or any others

Most people are stubborn. They either exploit how they're born into powerful social status, or say they'd rather die than surrender to the enemy.

A lot of it's reverse psychology. There are psychopaths who are addicted to a predatory way of life, and don't want their victims to get the justice they deserve.

Oh, more than that - I get on the nerves of many here with my polls.

They think that only professional opinionators are worth listening to. Americans are trained and tamed to have too much respect for someone's position. They are unwilling to admit that most positions are achieved by brown-nosing and soul-crushing ambition, not by competence.
