It seems to me that President Obama and his administration has received more disrespect and fear mongering than many previous presidencies. With the whole "birther" controversy, the allegation that Obama is a Muslim, Governor Brewer putting her hand in the President's face, the idea that Obama was brainwashed with Communist ideas by a mentor while he was young, the idea that Obama hates America, etc etc etc.

What are your thoughts?

Hopefully 'yes' to the former and 'no' to the latter.

Yes he's received more disrespect, but no to him receiving more hate?
Yes - he sucked but does not deserve hate thrown his way for it...just doing his job.

And I said 'hopefully'.

I do not know what he actually received.

Not sure one can measure that.

You want the President to receive disrespect?

Yes and No, I would say George Bush had alot of disrespect and scorn. However, perhaps not to the level with President Obama. I think it's underlined by the Right being stronger in their rhetoric than the left and also the hyperlization of the media, especially fringe media outlets.

 when people start making mass-audience movies accusing Obama of being complicit in the mass-murder of thousands of innocent Americans, and going to see hate-porn of him getting shot, let me know.

Bush was not disrespected when he took office. In my opinion Obama was disrespected from the first day of term.

As a POTUS? Yes.

As a human? No.
Well then surely you would agree that line had been crossed?

Also haven't you got it backwards. As the President of the United States of America, your Head of State, you want him to recieve disrespect? The Office?

I did.

I thought he was a pathetic choice for POTUS.

Turns out I was right.

I thought Obama would suck, but still be noticeably better then GWB was.

I was wrong.

Oh, he sucks at the job - but the improvement over GWB is hardly noticeable, imo.

Well of course, I mean "He only won because he was black."

Oh, I definitely agree. But, then look at the unlimited amount of (undisclosed) funding allowed to go into the Republican machine now. An unlimited amount of negative, mostly untrue, messages being broadcasted. The bigger and more outrageous the lies, the more believeable to some. Right out the play book. Obama is direspected because he's a Democrat and a black.

Obama is 'black'

Imo, a large minority of Americans are racist.

He was gonna get a rough time of it no matter how well he did.

And respect?

Respect is earned, not given away.

No, he won because the country was not ready for a women president, and the opposition was just not electable.

I am DESPERATE for a woman President.

It is America's only realistic hope, imo.

BTW - I am a guy.

Given the outrageous campaign ads his side is using, Obama has nothing to complain about.

He came into office as a superstar. He then earned disrespect.

Like it or not - that is true, imo.

Even I got sucked in a bit.

Sure, I thought he would suck...but I thought he would suck less then most POTUS's.

That he would close Gitmo and cut the deficit in half and do at least some of the other things he promised that mattered to me (the two I mentioned being two of the biggest).

And he failed miserably.

He did not have to hit a home run...just a solid double.

Instead, all he did is foul off a TON of pitches and then bunted...and then he was safe on a throwing error by the Republican shortstop.

I don't think Obama's caught any more crap than Bush 2 did. People constantly made jokes about how dumb that guy was. I don't really know about presidents much earlier than that. I was too young to pay a lot of attention to politics before Bush 2 was elected.

My thoughts are, are you serious????

I thought Bush was not a good president but I did not disrespect him.

I agree. I really wanted Hillary to get the nomination. Apparantly the dems did not agree.

It takes two to tango as far as I'm concerned, as I don't know that anyone believes the Barack Obama is a martyr. If the president thinks he's catching disrespect from others, then maybe he better look in the mirror.
