The Food Stamp President

Is it a racist remark?

Well, it is kind of obvious that the Republican party trot out the hand full of blacks they do have in their party as some sort of trophy so they can go "seeeee, we're not racists." Seriously, you can count on one hand the number of blacks in the GOP and it seems like all of them have to be more radical and extreme than their white counterparts just to be relevent.

My own opinion is that any black who would be a member of the GOP tea party are opportunists and would sell out their own mother if it benefitted them personally. Lets not forget history that it was blacks that kidnapped and sold their own kind out of Africa to the slave traders. A pimp is a pimp.
Now that is one big racist remark

Hmm, here West blames his political opponent, Ron Klein.....

“Ron Klein has clearly crossed a line. I'm not yet sure the potential damage that might come to my wife and me, and it makes me sick to think of what could happen to my daughters. My entire family is at risk of identity theft,” West said in a statement about the mailer.

It was a terrible thing to do but Ron Smith is head of the Florida Democratic Party and so I don't believe Wasserman had anything to do with it. But then West is an vile opportunist and so to berate her on the house floor must make him feel real pimpy like.

:lamo

Apparenly criticizing Obamacare is ALSO now racist

:lamo

oh man :) you just can't make this stuff up.

if you say the President is from Chicago, that is ALSO racist

...“They keep saying ‘Chicago,’” Matthews said. “That’s another thing that sends that message — this guy’s helping the poor people in the bad neighborhoods, screwing us in the ’burbs.”

Heilemann nodded, adding, “There’s a lot of black people in Chicago.”..

Apparently talking about the Constitution is racist:

...“The language of GOP racial politics is heavy on euphemisms that allow the speaker to deny any responsibility for the racial content of his message,” Williams wrote. “References to a lack of respect for the ‘Founding Fathers’ and the ‘Constitution’ also make certain ears perk up by demonizing anyone supposedly threatening core ‘old-fashioned American values.’”...

 ya'll really are desperate to talk about anything other than the economy and the presidents' record, aren't you?

:lamo[/QUOTE]

No more racist than some of things conservatives call Obama.

Just the other day I heard a guy call him "Mr President"; but "President" is one word, obviously the speaker was referring back to the days when blacks were referred to only by one word names. :( It's so awful, how racist that guy was...

Why do conservatives keep calling Obama the "Kenyan?" They never seem to mention the people who raised him, his white mother, white grandmother or white grandfather who fought in WW2. Instead they focus his Kenyan father that he never really knew. Why is that cpwill?

Romney's father was born Mexico. Have you ever seen or heard a liberal call Romney a Mexican or say that he wasn't an American because of where his father was born?

Well Moot,

I can honestly only think of two reasons.

1) they believe what his paternal grandmother said about being there during his birth in Kenya, or what his literary agent put up ... that he was born in kenya... Personally, I think it was Obama trying to make himself look more worldly to his literary agent, and he fibbed to her, or she did it as a way to make the young author more interesting... either way... as far as his grandmother apparently THAT was a mistake in translation ... somehow... I speak multiple languages, unfortunately none of them are african... though I must say I am not sure how someone mistranslates that, but since I dont speak that language I will have to acquiesce.

2) They like poking dems with a sharp stick, and know that particular stick is both very pointy, and annoying.

as near as I can tell, we don't. mostly we just call him "the failure" unless we are making light of the incredible self-image the man has, in which case we call him "the One". there is a small subset of cranks who believe he wasn't born an american citizen; they make up a smaller portion of the electorate than the subset of cranks before them who believed that George Bush was behind 9/11; and they flow from similar stock.

They never seem to mention the people who raised him, his white mother, white grandmother or white grandfather who fought in WW2.

On the contrary, we don't talk that much about his parentage at all.

Apparently this back and forth between Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Allen West, is personal, there is a whole lot more to this than just a single ad apparently... I don't know that CSPAN has a recording of her comments, so I will have to reserve judgement about WHAT she said to provoke this... but Wests, "Disgusting" email, follows...

West in an email to DWS said:
From: Z112 West, Allen
Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2011 04:48 PM
To: Wasserman Schultz, Debbie
Cc: McCarthy, Kevin; Blyth, Jonathan; Pelosi, Nancy; Cantor, Eric
Subject: Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz

Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Steadfast and Loyal

Congressman Allen B West (R-FL)

Apparently he's just saying... if you want a fight ... bring it on... I doubt anyone scares the good colonel... being shot at for a living kinda brings that out in some.

First of all, that wasn't his paternal grandmother, but his grandfathers second wife so she couldn't have been there at his birth and secondly she was deliberately misquoted. So "they" are spreading a lie.

Actually, they are racists. How's that for a sharp stick?

I've seen several people on this forum refer to Obama as Kenyan. They do so to emphazise that he is black. They're not a subset, they're tea party conservatives just like the ones mentioned in this link.....

Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Tea Party has invoked racism towards people of color. It has actually become a relatively frequent occurrence that the Tea Party has put little effort to abolish. At nearly every Tea Party rally, there have been several racist placards including possible undertones such as "I want my country back," depictions of President Barack Obama as an African witch doctor, pictures of Steve Erckel's body under Obama’s head, portrayal of the First Lady Michelle Obama as an ape, suggestions of lynching stating “Hang em high!,” as well as signs stating “The American taxpayers are the Jews for Obama’s oven,” “Obama’s plan — white slavery,” “Obamaconomics chains you can believe in,” “Obama — what you talkin about Willis!...,” “…Kenyan tries to destroy America…homey don’t play dat,” “Obamanomics — monkey see, monkey do,” “The zoo has an African and the white house has a lyin’ African,” “no ‘voo-doo' medicine!!,” “somewhere in Kenya a village is missing its idiot” and the list goes on with probably one of the worst by a Tea Party member who operated their official website holding a sign stating “Congress = Slaveowner, Taxpayer = Niggar.” Although not every member carries racist signs, the amount that is seen is in excess and the members of the Tea Party who see these signs usually do not voice much of an opposition against them.

I am not sure exactly HOW that makes them racist... but ok...

I personally don't buy that he was born outside of Hawaii... I have reason to think the documents he has provided are fake just to keep the "Birthers" alive, but that's just me.

as an aside ... do you sleep? LOL

You have reason? What reason would that possibly be, Schutzengel?

I'm a night owl. It's a bad habit I got from staying up all night to meet deadlines. lol

I think he likes keeping the birthers around, they make an easy target... I can't think of any other reason do release the documents he did...

I am a computer professional so I know OCR will do a lot of that... but you would think that they would look at the PDF and realize that if they released it "as is" it would cause a gigantic stir, and I think that was exactly what he wants... he wants a dog to beat... and the birthers are happy to wag that tail.

if your evidence for a significant portion of the conservative movement is a few posters on DP.....

They're not a subset, they're tea party conservatives just like the ones mentioned in this link.

 they may be supporters of the Tea Party, that does not mean that the Tea Party supports their other views, any more than it meant that the anti-war crowd all believed that Jews were behind 9/11 because some of their membership did. Tea Partiers aren't upset with Obama because they think he's secretly kenyan, they are more likely to be upset with Obama because they think he's secretly a socialist.

I realize this may be hard for those representing the Identity Group Party to understand but.... we don't care. We. Do. Not. Care. We aren't about identity, we are about ideology.

Who do you think you're kidding?

I spend a good chunk of my day skimming with one eye on conservative news. WSJ, National Review, etc; I get a daily newsletter half of whose function is just to summarize the best of the days conservative blogs. If we were running around talking about how "kenyan" the President is, I'd be one of the ones doing it, or I'd be reading them.

We. Just. Do. Not. Really. Care. That. His. Father. Was. From. Africa. We care a lot about thinks like welfare, obamacare, the deficit, defense, etc. But identity politics is the strategy of your side, not ours.

if your evidence for a significant portion of the conservative movement is a few posters on DP.....
What factors have you identified to indicate that the DP right-wing is in fact not representative of the "conservative movement" as a whole? Can you suggest any such factors?

As if the "socialist" belief were any more rational than the "kenyan" belief. Why not just admit that the whole lot of these people is absolutely loopy.

I realize this may be hard for those representing the Identity Group Party to understand but.... we don't care. We. Do. Not. Care. We aren't about identity, we are about ideology.
LOL! All you have is that ideology. There is nothing that rationally supports or emanates from it.

So for how many years did you in fact do that? Would computer forensics reveal multiple links to Orly Taitz on your hard drive?

We care a lot about thinks like welfare, obamacare, the deficit, defense, etc.
If you did, you would be able to discuss them in a far more rational manner. Instead, what you call debate consists far too often of just one fact-independent mass after another of pure emotional glop and bluster. Skin in the game...death panels...Zimbabwe. These sorts of things make it appear that you don't care about issues at all, but are rather being led around like a bull with a ring through his nose by a bunch or right-wing propaganda-meisters.

But identity politics is the strategy of your side, not ours.
That claim has been bunk since the first Democrat was called a "tax-and-spend liberal". Slime-And-Smear® is a Republican brand. See also Swiftboating®...
