Would You Vote a Woman into Presidential Office?

Would you vote for a woman running for president if she held your political views?

Anyone who picked the last option is an ignorant person as well as a useless voter (and I am a man). Prejudiced people make me sick.

Then I probably make you sick, and it might be a good idea not to read my posts anymore.

I like him because he sticks to his guns. I don't have to like his authoritarian views to like the fact that he doesn't run away from being called crazy for them.

Trust me, I've been called a lot worse than "crazy" by people whose opinions I value much more than anyone at this site; so there's no reason for me to run away from anyone here. Put them on Ignore, yes.... run away, no.

If you are prejudiced, then you do make me sick.

Actually, I more pity ignorant people then anything else.

Anyone that judges someone strictly on the amount of melanin in their skin OR whether their reproductive organs are on the inside or the outside OR for any other superficial reason are ignoramuses of the first magnitude (imo).

I don't give a damn about gender or ethnicity.

I don't think it's "historic," positive, or even really matters - point in fact, I think all that nonsense is divisive. "Asians are good at math," is still bigotry.

Give me a candidate with integrity that values the same things I do, and I'll vote for them.

Would I vote for a woman for president? Possibly.

Would I vote for Hilary Clinton for president? Never. I can't stand her.

What is I judge a woman by the color of her hair! I luv red heads. :2razz:

Pretty much says it all.

I misread option #4 and voted that way, thinking it said "I would vote for a woman if she held my views." The options could have been:

Yes
Yes with slight reservations
Yes as a last resort
No

Whatever. My actual answer is "yes I would." I don't know about "happy and excited," but whatever.

I'm not happy and excited to vote for a woman, nor would I have hesitations to vote for her if she met my standards.

There were plenty of other reasons for me not to support her. Including her inability to maintain a moral household under her own roof. However, they were insignificant after her gender.

Morality is relative, right tigger? Do you and your girlfriend abstain?

are there really and rational, logical, objective people out there that wouldnt vote for a qualified person based on them being:

a woman
young
old
black
Latino
Asian
German
Arab
Indian
christian
Muslim
Jewish

etc etc etc

None of these things would ever impact my vote if I felt they were qualified, thats just stupid.

Now with that said a person could be one of those things and it could effect their ability to be qualified but that would be the expectation not the rule.

The United States seems much more resistant to electing women into high positions when compared to Europe and other western countries. So I'm interested to see people's views and how they would vote. Would you vote for a woman who you held all of your views politically and promised to make changes you agreed with? Would you be more like or less likely to vote for your candidate because she's a woman?

My views: I would be very excited to see a woman who held my views run for president or even vice president. I would be excited to see someone whose views match my own running for office, but her being a woman would be the cherry on top. I would not go so far as to vote for any average woman just because she's a woman, because I feel the first female president is going to be held to higher standards and have her every move scrutinized by her critics. A sub par female president would only set us back.

I would have some reservations -- that's how I voted. My reservations would be that, frankly, she be through menopause. I've seen too many women with severe PMS, frankly, to have a lot of confidence in their ability to react rationally under stress.

BUT. Those reservations would not preclude me from voting for her. It's just something I would be on the lookout for, if you will.

I vote for the best candidate, regardless of sex. Why wasn't this an option in the poll?

All of the poll options are sexist...

Is it bigotry if it's true? Asians do, as a group, tend to score high in subjects like math. Do you deny that?

That just sounds really silly to me :)

Have you ever been in the unfortunate position of having to interact with a woman on a daily basis who has severe PMS? If not, you're fortunate. The symptoms are debilitating and very real. (If you never have been, I can understand why it'd sound silly.)

I really wish I could have voted for Hillary Clinton, I think she would have been better than Obama.

No. Morality is NOT relative.

Tisha and I have abstained to this point. Next month will be our 9 month anniversary and at that point in time we will re-assess that decision at that time. Considering that we are talking about marriage, we may choose to engage in those activities. Before you comment, remember that my criteria has always been a long-term committed relationship NOT marriage.

are there really and rational, logical, objective people out there that wouldnt vote for a qualified person based on them being:

Yes, there are actually many of us.

Its obvious you misunderstood the question.

Okay. After re-reading it I realize that the sort of person you're talking about is a gutless, spineless, worthless waste of flesh and oxygen who doesn't actually have any real principles. My apologies for having mis-read the question.

You misread again, Im talking about, im talking about a logical, rational, objective, reality based, very educated person. The person Im talking about is versed in life and how the world actually works and they are realism.

what sort of person are you talking about?

With respect, have you ever had to be in the unfortunate position to interact with a man on a daily basis who has chronic prostatitis and/or severe BPH (a severely enlarged prostate)? Millions of men past 50 have chronic prostatitis and/or severe BPH and although I am not 50 - I have had prostate problems and they can be EXTREMELY frustrating and depressing (as there is no cure for many of those that suffer from it).
I am not saying it is worse then severe PMS (I don't know). But any man that has gone through it knows that it does DEFINITELY affect your demeanor and personality.
In fact, some men have had suicidal thoughts because of it.
Yet, it is not something that usually stops you from going to work - you just have to live with it.

I can't compare the two. But having been a women who's suffered from severe and debilitating PMS, I can tell you that for one week out of the month I was nothing short of paranoid schizophrenic. That's where my thoughts come from.

I'm talking about someone with PRINCIPLES. Someone who sees the world in only two colors.... BLACK and WHITE. Who understands the only two things worth worrying about are RIGHT and WRONG.

*sigh

Except as usual it has to be explained again and again and again that what's right and wrong is being arbritarily decided by you.

And before you go on about tradition and society niether of those things agrees with you either except in isolated cases...

Then again none of this matters to you because you will simply soldier on within the confines of your own alternate universe.
