Men have pretty much proven they can't pilot this ship. They had tens-of-thousands of years at the helm and it seems we're all on the Titanic. Either we've already hit the iceberg, or we're on a collision course.

Isn't it about time we throw in the towel? perhaps let somebody different have a try?

Who better to "clean up the mess" men have made? :3oops:

Change? You want change?

Put the ladies in charge.

On every level of government. From the POTUS right down to the mail room janitor and every place in between.

Fill every office, every cabinet position, and every seat in congress with females.

Could they really do a worse job then the men have done?

The world is much better today than 10k years ago.
Both women and men have made contributions to the improvements we enjoy now.

Things in general are fine, stop blaming one gender.

So everything is fine huh? No problems in the world? No major issues? No problems with life?
All is grand and wonderful?

Pure crazytalk!

Why is it crazy?

What's wrong with women?

Are you saying they can't at least do as well as the men have done?

Are you saying they would be worse at running things than the men have been?

You wish a "coin flip" simply because you think that gender is "the problem" with most world leaders? Perhaps you can point out the "great successes" of female heads of state to back up your assertion that different has to be better.

I don't think we should "let" anybody do anything. If you want to lead then you should earn it. Women are capable, they just don't participate at the same level as men, and that's our own fault. We don't need to see some sort of gender-based AA program for leadership roles just to balance the scales.

I picked ban the OP because they suck for even suggesting this travesty!

In all seriousness, why not? Could not do any worse than the guys have.

I'm all for a hermaphrodocracy, myself.

If women want to rule I'm all for it, but I don't think we need to just shove a woman into any available leadership spot. They should build their resumes and campaign for it like everybody else, or (as with the SCOTUS) they should create a record that displays their abilities so that selecting them for those spots represents the best choice.

And, of course, there are still some stigmas and "old world" ideals to fight against.

I'm not suggesting we grab the first few hundred ladies that walk into a South Carolina or Texas Walmart and appoint them as leaders.

There can be elections.

Well then why not try children? Cats? Dogs? If we are just throwing out random things instead of the evil men, why don't we give everyone and everything a fair chance?

HELL NO!!! Among the worst ideas ever concieved in human history. As bad as things are now (and they're pretty bad), they would only get WORSE if we moved to a Matriarchal social structure.

People say things like "how could the world be any worse", seriously? Just in my lifetime the standard of living has improved dramatically. Things can and have been much worse and there are more women serving in government roles than ever before.

I gave a simplified answer, of course it is more complicated.

Don't think because I gave a simple answer, I think this is just a coin flip.

I figured you would be on the hell no list, hehehehe.

I don't care what anyone says Tigger, you remain true to yourself.

I think there's some truth to the idea that women could make "better" leaders or administrators of certain things. I think female perspectives can bring a lot of fresh ideas to the table, and also that female views of things has often been discounted or marginalized out of knee-jerk sexism (like the idea that a woman couldn't be trusted in times of crises in foreign relations).

But I also think you're taking the idea too far to say men, as a whole gender, aren't capable to lead because of inherent qualities that come with being male.

More women? Sure.

Mandating all women? Nah.

That's all we can do, Blackdog. It's the people who refuse to actually believe in anything or stick to those beliefs that scare me the most.

Which might suggest that MORE women would mean things might be even BETTER.

If women were in charge of everything our social injustices would just swing the other way. Women would stop dealing with crap like unfairly low pay, limits to their healthcare, while men would be slammed in divorce settlements and even more with childcare. They probably wouldn't have their viagra covered anymore...

As for the most important things like the budget, I'm sure it would be just as terrible. We need to work together and the closer governement is to equal representation of women and men the better.

I suggest a really good book I read that uses this concept. It was a good enough book that I bought a copy for my permanent library. It is a work of fiction, of course, but it is well written and veryt touching.

2097 is a transformed world. Thirty years earlier, a mysterious plague wiped out 97 percent of the male population, devastating every world system from governments to sports teams, and causing both universal and unimaginable grief. In the face of such massive despair, women were forced to take over control of the planet--and in doing so they eliminated all of Earth's most pressing issues. Poverty, crime, warfare, hunger . . . all gone.

But there's a price to pay for this new "utopia," which fourteen-year-old Kellen is all too familiar with. Every day, he deals with life as part of a tiny minority that is purposefully kept subservient and small in numbers. His career choices and relationship options are severely limited and controlled. He also lives under the threat of scattered recurrences of the plague, which seem to pop up wherever small pockets of men begin to regroup and grow in numbers.

And then one day, his mother's boss, an iconic political figure, shows up at his home. Kellen overhears something he shouldn't--another outbreak seems to be headed for Afterlight, the rural community where his father and a small group of men live separately from the female-dominated society. Along with a few other suspicious events, like the mysterious disappearances of Kellen's progressive teacher and his Aunt Paige, Kellen is starting to wonder whether the plague recurrences are even accidental. No matter what the truth is, Kellen cares only about one thing--he has to save his father.

Yup. There is no utopia. Every situation has it's downsides.

This is kind of interesting and fun to think about actually. More changes I think would happen:

Women would have longer paid maternity leave
Men would be punished harsher for sexual harassment and assault
Abortion laws would no longer be challenged (or at least not have any hope of changing)
rape victims would no longer be questioned about their sexual history in court
traditionally female jobs would be paid better (Teachers, nurses, daycare workers)
breastfeeding in public would always be allowed
women would not pay more for healthcare insurance (on the way to changing now anyway)

while men would be slammed in divorce settlements and even more with childcare

We don't need women in charge for that. That's already here.

Frankly, I think every man who gets married is a flippin' moron. The risk greatly outweighs the reward across the board.
