Ak 47 now that thing can take a beating.

You shoot innocent little birds with your BB gun? You are OFF my friends list!

Yikes- I didn't know I was on your friend's list.

As for your question- if I was hungry, you're damn straight I would shoot innocent little birds.

Reliable yes, but accuracy is the biggest drawback to the AK platform, especially with a limited supply of ammunition.

Hasn't been a major issue for me. Of course I rarely shoot beyond 100m because I can rarely SEE anything beyond 100m for all the trees and hills.

I'm sure you're a good shot then, probably better than me. I was used to getting groups more than twice as large or better from the AK at 50 yards than from the AR at 100 yards. I have seen, heard, and read about these size groups from from others as well. I prefer something closer to MOA and I think a quality AR delivers these results.

I compare the trigger pull of the AK to the Daisy BB gun I had as a young boy.

Well, I'd probably better specify that what I have isn't quite, strictly speaking, an AK47. It's an SKS "tanker model" that was factory converted to take AK magazines. I refer to it as an AK because people usually think I'm talking about a stripper-clip fixed-mag gun otherwise. I'm told it is more accurate than most models of actual AK47's, other than perhaps the better Romanian models.

In "survivalist mode" you aren't trying to shoot for score or group your rounds within a small space.

Let me ask, if your target at 50m was a living creature (deer, bear, person) would you have disabled it regardless of how close your rounds hit compared to one another?

I can shoot two shots that land 7 inches apart, yet both of those shots could do the job........... See what I am getting at?

Given the lack of parameters, which is fine, in the OP I’m going in a complete different direction than previous posts. My preference is a modern flintlock in 45cal. 100 rounds is not a sufficient ammo supply if the SHTF for real. Reloading (if even applicable due to the 100 round ‘clause’) will only get you so far as you still need modern items for reloads (primers n powder). I can formulate black powder from items found fairly handily. Lead for projectiles can also be had thusly. The newer ones have removable breech plugs so maintaining the barrel is a BREEZE. The lock, trigger, hammer mechanism is simple enough to be repaired with scrap and some rudiment blacksmith skills. Considering than an ELE will catapult civilization BACKWARDS it would seem prudent to use an arm of a foregone era rather than depend on a modern arm that will become obsolete rather quickly, relatively.

In my experience, the AK is not as accurate as the AR, but it's good enough to do the job, and you just can't kill the AK.
Trigger pull? Yeah. Easy. Fun. Fun enough for a woman to love it.

Shot placement is what hunting is all about.
