We've all seen it -- politicians becoming "outraged" over something in order to make their opponents look bad. In fact, I wonder how much outrage is real versus that which is manufactured in order to manipulate the public into disliking opponents. Vote on what percentage of political outrage that you think is fake. This poll is only about the "outrage" of politicians, not the general public.

I'd say 80-90%, because there are some things some things that are genuinely disgusting, and worthy of outrage by anybody. However, most of it is bull**** posturing, imo.

I agree. So much of what politicians do is manipulation.

All of it. Being a part of the political machine desensitizes you really quickly. You strive for whatever goals you really care about, and run into a brick wall so fast it makes your head spin. The political profession is so bogged down that the energy that used to go to outrage is expended just staving off despair. The outrage is all forced.

This, of course, only applies to those whose aspirations are actually based on policy, and not just in selfish pursuits. But for them, the outrage is fake, too. They're pandering. Unless their tax cuts are on the line, then the outrage is real.

A healthy 3/4ths.

Probably at least 95% of everything that comes out of a politician's mouth is fake.

Where are the liberals on this?

Surely you see the issue. If 90%+ of what politicians (our levers into our government) say is B.S., why do you want to move so many important functions and responsibilities and freedoms to such an institution? Makes no sense.

If I were to give them the benefit of the doubt, 70-80% is fake

80+ percent.

I will stick with Sturgeon's Law. 90% of everything is crap.

Nearly all of it. There might be occasional exceptions, if someone is being bigoted and/or advocating violence. For example, I believe that Obama's people truly were furious with Hillary Clinton toward the end of the 2008 primary when she implied that the race wasn't over and alluded to the fact that Robert F. Kennedy hadn't yet been assassinated by that point in the primary season. But aside from REALLY over-the-top rhetoric like that, I doubt they care that much. Do I believe that McCain was outraged that Obama talked about clinging to guns and religion? Of course not. Do I believe that Obama is outraged that Romney questioned the Palestinian culture? Of course not. All that **** is manufactured nonsense.

There's a few politicians that I have seen, or know about that seem genuine to me. Then again they could just be great actors, so who knows. I'll give it a good 75-80% B.S.

One sure way to tell if a politician is lying: they're moving their mouths.

Sent from my homing pigeon using Crapatalk.

About 90% of it. "Outrage" is one of those words that's gotten watered down a lot by overuse.

agreed. only when it's on something particularly emotionally heated, or when they attack members of their own side do I really suspect it might be true.

Because businessmen are just as bad, but with fewer rules to prevent their abuses.

Can you back that up?
The prevailing liberal interpreation of the tax provision in U.S. law, and providing for the general welfare, is that :
Any amount, if done democratically, can be taxed
Government can spend money on anything backed by sufficient votes

Now. Be honest. Do U.S. corporations have more power than that, or less.

What power does Microsoft hold over you to force you to pay them money (You know, your hard work convereted into a conveninent medium of exchange)?
Government?

Can Microsoft tell you that you can't build there because of a "endagered frog"?
Government?

Can Microsoft require you to buy an operating system?
Government?

Can Microsoft jail you for growing weed?
Government?

ad infinitum.

Can you show how your claim is not absurd? Of course you can't (because it's absurd).
