Do you think that Mitt Romney has core, unshakable political/religious/social beliefs outside of Mormonism, Money and He Should Be President?

Depends on the day and what his goal is at the present. Same as ALL politicians.

Except largely Ron Paul, one of the few who sticks to his guns, don't agree with him alot but he never bended his views for the primaries and I respect that.

Yeah all in all Romney really lacks any back bone.

I mean for a guy who said the following this year:

"We may make mistakes as a nation from time to time and step on others toes and we'll say we're sorry for that but apologizing for America is something I will never, ever do".

When you contradict yourself every other day with your positions, and can't keep your narrative straight for one sentence... Obama aside, I don't know how anyone can support him... honestly it's pathetic.

He was a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro gun control Republican who changes his views to win the presidency.

Who cares?

He's not Obama...that's enough for me.

Romney's core beliefs are what his etch a sketch says they are for the day.

ME. $$$$$$$. Mormonism.

Romney beliefs conform with whatever the requirements are for his the office he wants to sit in. While dishonest, I still consider that preferable to someone who has unshakable convictions which are downright stupid. The disconnect between the viewpoints of the republican primary and the presidential election has become ridiculous. Anyone who was consistent coming out of that process would be so far from the center that wouldn't have a prayer of wining the general.

The real question is what views Romney would adopt if he obtains the Presidency. In Massachusetts he conformed to the more liberal views of the state, but America as a whole is actually quite balanced ideologically.

If he wins...if the Republicans retain the House...if the Republicans gain a majority in the Senate...then we can finally begin to undo some of the damage Obama and the Democrats have done. Then we can finally start the country on the road to recovery from our economic woes.

If any one or more of the three doesn't happen, then all we'll get is four more years of the same as we have now...if we're lucky.

he loves money, and probably his family.

that's about it. everything else can be dropped & switched in a minute.

Absolutely. Mitt Romney has a core belief that Mitt Romney should be President.

This isn't the first time we've had to choose between a pair of self-aggrandizing buffoons. The only question is which flavor of buffoonery do you prefer....

In reply to the titel of the OP "Does Mitt Romney has core beliefs?"

We have no way of knowing because we are not inside his head.

I am sure he has core beleifs but he can change his position on certain things to win the election, then he can do what he needs to do.

That is no different than many other politicians.

.

What? Re-enact the wonderful policies of GWB and the GOP that got us into this mess in the first place?

Or......pull a Bain Capital on the US.....dismantle the country and ship the few remaining good paying manufacturing jobs overseas?

Uh.....no thanks!

Your comment made me lol, but everything you said was the truth. The truth is ridiculous.

I really can't figure out why he changes his position constantly, and doesn't seem to understand that that is a problem. It's completely insane, and not only that, but he also has a habit of avoiding the question and not giving definite answers to anything now. It's hard to know where he really stands. He has no principles.

He isn't a dumb guy, so why does he **** this up so bad???

I put no...but I would put NO to obama and every other president since I started voting...When push comes to shove...I BELIEVE...they are all fullofchit...way up past their chins

Yeah, politicians these days are merely actors with 1000 lobbyists to please. Obama hasn't exactly governed as he campaigned, but Romney takes it to another level. Reason is simply he wouldn't become governor as a total nut, but he had to use rather hateful rhetoric to win the nomination. Now he needs to tone it down to compete in the general. He's completely phony whenever he tries to address the crowds his party just spent months blasting, like college students and women. That video of the gay veteran trapping Romney was also revealing. They're really just hoping the voters have intense hatred of Obama and severe ADD and are financially desperate enough to pick literally anyone else. And that they don't find out about the magic underwear.

I am not sure he does. I am waiting for his pivot once the primaries are officially over and his veep is selected. I am curious to see where he goes next, however he does not really come off as an ultra conservative.

What a partisan dumb ass poll this is........I could start one about Hussein Obama but that would be stupid to.......

and you have, many times.

What are Romney's core beliefs, as it pertains to the presidency? That he wants to be in power.
What are Obama's core beliefs, as it pertains to the presidency? That he wants to stay in power.

It's very easy to see just where the two stand.

The only one who really sticks to an ideology is Ron Paul, as someone noted above already. Since Ron Paul sticks to an ideology instead of saying what the audience wants to hear, he has no chance of winning the presidency.

While there is some merit in standing by a belief when you are punished for doing so, ideologies in general and Ron Paul's ideology in particular are mismatched with the challenges of reality.

Ideology by nature is more about stimulating the adherents' egos with fantasies and imaginary dramas than responding to real life problems and challenges.

I see too many similarities between Romney and Obama.

This November I would rather see Romney lose because two years down the road Republicans will win big if Obama is in the White House. Then in 2016 we can elect a true conservative.

Yeah you want two more Kagans on the supreme court

good thinking

and none of the people who ran in the GOP were true conservatives. Romney was better on the things that matter than the slimy salamander and the abortion fascist santorum

clue to you social conservatives

gay rights, gay marriage, abortion are all distractions. The ECONOMY is what matters

and Romney is by far the best conservative choice there

Are you defining Partisan as anyone who disagrees with you on anything?

You do realize Romney has take huge amounts of flak for being a flip flopper with no core beliefs from people who are millions of miles more to the right then you are no?

The GOP elected a former pro gun control, pro-choice, big spending, tax hiking, fee raising politician from a deep blue state who explicitly disowned Reagan as their candidate.
