When Mormons add an addendum to a law in Arizona that gives outrageous financial benefits to those that have their SUV modified to also run from a 5 gallon tank of propane that one shop in Arizona set them selves up to do and they only inform the Good People of the East Valley that they have done this, they are operating in a way that may be acceptable to you, but not to me. This is not about being "taught that life on earth started after an alien jacked off into the primordial ooze", this is about Mormons expecting to get special treatment from other Mormons in government.

No. Best thing to do with crazies of either party is let them make fools of themselves. If you get a bunch of people talking politics, let the birthers and truthers have their say. It let's you know who is and is not worth actually debating with.

But when the leadership of the GOP refuses to do anything about it? That's pretty much a sign of condoning such beliefs. I squarely blame the Republican leadership for letting the birtherism get this bad. It's one thing when the nutter is on this forum. Its another when he's House Majority Leader.

You mean like "cap and trade" emission offset programs in parts of the US that exclusively benefit people with vested monetary interests in said programs, which still have nothing to do with Mormons, or any religion whatsoever, and that you're just looking for ways to crucify a denomination of people you personally think are 'icky'?

When did the house speaker raise the birther issue. He may have but I never heard about it.

More the "Gross exaggeration, fear based, full of misinformation, demonization based on percieved religious beliefs and other things that have jack and **** to do with the electoin" tactic that'll be used by some of the birther equivilents on the left.

Remember...don't vote for Romney, he's religiously unable to do anything but screw anyone that isn't in his super duper club because they're mandated to put their religion above anything else

Well said. Romney's not a liberal. He's not a conservative. He's not a libertarian. He's not a socialist. He's not a fascist. He's not a communist. The only thing we can be certain of is that he's a PHONY. He's been all over the place politically. He'll blow whichever way the wind blows him if it gets him where he wants to be politically. He's on the right -- right now.

When did Boehner say Birthers are wrong and they need to cut that belief out?

Boehner briefly addressed it and then said nothing. Only that he doesn't think Obama was born outside of the US. McCain on the other hand took the time to call out people who said Obama was a Muslim calling him a Christian and Family Man.

The GOP leadership COULD have shown some spine and did what McCain did to the Birther issue. Instead they let it get this bad.

Sure he could have said more and perhaps he should. That being said there are a lot of knucleheads who say stupid things. I don't hear people complain about Obama not calling out the new black panther party. Who cares.

All I'm saying is by definition, every organized religion is a cult. A cult isn't inherently bad or good, it's just "a specific system of religious worship, esp with reference to its rites and deity". Sounds like church to me.

I just think it's funny that throughout the Obama campaign, people on the right said Obama was a Muslim, that he's one them 'Al Kaydas', "President Osama" and all that stupid ****, and the left talked mad **** about how how the right was being culturally insensitive, how they were bigots, and oppressing religious freedom.... and now members of the left, who upheld religious freedom when it was beneficial to their arguments are now calling Romney a cultist, and making the case that it's dangerous, and that Mormons are weird, etc. The double standard is astounding, especially considering that they'll sit there and defend their argument that Mormons are weird cultists, but don't you dare talk **** about the Muslims, or the Jews, or the Buddhists, no sir.
