Politics aside. Don't think about the economy, foreign policy, etc. Think about character stuff. You know, like cheating on your wife, being a drunk, or snorting coke. Which POTUS is the most likable guy of the last three? Clinton, W Bush, or Obama.

I find both Bush and Obama to be likable... but Clinton was a piece of **** as a person, imo.

I voted Bush. Good back story on the guy that made me like him.
I had a buddy who was the lead crew chief on Marine 1 when he was POTUS. The first time President Bush went to his ranch in Texas, he sat and talked to my buddy for about an hour while they were in the air about regular stuff. Did he have a girlfriend, had he ever ridden a horse, where was he from, etc. At the time, my buddy was engaged. So President Bush offered a guest house to he and his fiance to stay in while at his ranch. My friend declined, of course. Well, the next day, his fiance shows up. President Bush had found out her name, had one of his aides call her, and arranged for his private jet to go get her and bring her to Texas. When I heard that story, I knew he was a good guy. In addition, President Bush's practice of waiting until his staff, Secret Service detail, and Marines/Airmen on his aircraft enjoyed their Christmas with their families before going home is awesome.
I think President Obama is probably a good guy too. He is extremely funny in his interviews, comes across as a genuinly good husband and father, and can laugh at himself. I just have a more personal story with President Bush so that's what leans me his way.
I think President Clinton is a dirt bag, so I don't even consider him.

I have a buddy who was working Camp David in his second administration. Those kinds of stories are pretty common - Bush is a genuinely good person. Makes me sad for the way he was treated.

I think the most likable was Clinton. The one I have the most respect for is Bush.

Dude is in ridiculous shape too. The same guy from the story has a picture of Bush, the Marine 1 crew, and the Secret Service agents on a run. Bush is in front with the Marines and the Secret Service dudes are falling out sucking wind lol. Hilarious. The guy said Bush ran a 19 to 19:30 3 miles. Most young Marines can't do that and this old man is out there smoking dudes at 60+.

Clinton?! No way. Dude didn't own up to his weed (I loved the way Obama did that btw), banged chicks in the White House while he was married, and just seems like a genuine douche. You think he's hot, that's all that is lol.

Nope- not at all. When he was president, I couldn't hardly stand to listen to or watch the man speak. I didn't like him personally, which is different from a person being likable. He's like a charming snake. Bush is the man who has the character, and the things that I find attractive in a man (hint: it's not a personality thing), but I'm not typical in my tastes.

Trying to separate the politics is difficult when that's all we know of them. Their actions while in office can reflect on what kind of person they are, like starting 2 wars and transparent bigotry, that's not the kind of person I'd have a beer with. Obama and Clinton both come across as brilliant, and Clinton does a huge amount of philanthropy, but I'm always hesitant to say that I'd like someone on a personal, when I don't know them personally. They're politicians in the end. Who knows what they're really like.

All three seem pretty likable to me, though you can't really know without personal experience.

Gimme a break. POLITICS ASIDE was in the OP. Adhere to it. The same things you said about Bush can be said about the other two so don't give me that crap. They're just like movie stars. I'm sure there is at least one movie star that you would hang out with if you could. Use the same mental approach to these guys. That's why there's a none of the above vote.

Yeah, he's a scumbag. Of all 3, Clinton is the one I'd end up taking out back to beat some ass before the night was over. With Obama, I just get the general impression that we wouldn't have much, if anything, in common. Bush is a good guy, but I don't really do conversation, and I'm not a likable person, so I don't believe we'd get along.

I do not find any of them unlikable. Clinton probably the most likable of those three, but going back one more would get a different answer. Of all the presidents in my life, the two I most would have liked to meet, both are republicans oddly. Bush the elder, war hero in the navy, and Ford, who, knowing it would probably cost him any chance at winning an election, still did the right thing in pardoning Nixon and made a habit of carrying in his wallet a definition of a pardon which mentions that it is a presumption of guilt.

You're right, it is odd that both you want to meet are Republicans. I left Bush the elder out due to the fact that the age group on this website tends to lean more to the last 3 Presidents.
I don't get what people like about Clinton.

I don't get what people like about Clinton.

People who met him explained how he was a great listener and had a way of putting people at ease and feeling like he honestly cared about what they had to say. He also at times changed based on what people told him.

Anyone who can defeat alcoholism has my respect. Respect is an important aspect to being likable to me. None of the three have politics I like and I think there are many presidents throughout history I would rather meet, but I think Bush would be the most enjoyable experience.

Bush I or Clinton?

This is a good premise for a thread. I picked Clinton, but really do not know.

I do believe that a person's character is best determined when people aren't watching, so the positive stories of Bush II make me think better of him.

I'd say GWB. I'd put Clinton far down the list of likable Presidents.

Yeah, I gotta go with clinton. He'd be pretty much the best wingman ever.

You won't get a satisfactory answer from me, but I'll go with Bush overall.

Alright, Bill had personal faults that are very hard to ignore. Yet, I would enjoy talking with him, or would enjoy to hear the man sell his globalization theory to me. George still has a reputation that is hard to live down and much of it is still too recent to put into perspective, but I would enjoy being around him in one of those unguarded situations that he excelled in. For the most part, I think I would get along far better with Bush than the others, much of it because of personal values and somewhat similar outlooks. Obama I would like to talk to about the university, but I do not quite know what subject to talk about as of yet.
