Yes my life is better off today and I'm looking forward to getting back into the vocational world.

So virtually everyone in this forum, especially libs are better off than they were 4 years ago. There are a million fewer jobs than their was 4 years ago, gas cost twice as much, house prices are off a cliff and we as a nation are 4 trillion more in debt. Apparently you people were living under a bridge 4 years ago if things are better now.

I forgot the unemployment numbers which would be way over 10% if not for tricky accounting schemes.

The question was if people are better off.

Not if the country is.

For gods sake why are some of you Conservatives so upset that some people are actually doing well.

Is it perhaps.... Class Envy

To be fair to NP, I think he means flat over the past four years during which the major stock indices have been relatively unchanged.

If he's saying that, then he shouldn't be bull****ting about the gas prices, which have also stated relatively flat as compared to 4 years ago.

4 years ago I was unhappily married, but I had some money. Today, I have no money, but I'm not unhappily married.

The universe does seem to have a perverse way of balancing things out.

its interesting how some folks appear to be actually offended, that many of us are actually in any way better off than we werre 3 years ago.

Yeah, I'm not defending his other statements. I don't buy into the stupid gas prices talking point. I'm just pointing out the difference a year can make on stock prices (roughly 8% off an all-time high and a multi-decade low).

I'm not a "lib".I'm a human being.
Sorry if some of us worked hard and actually prospered.Maybe I was living under a bridge 4 years ago,but at least it had 5 bedrooms 3 bathrooms, a swimming pool and a 2 car garage.
Would it make you happy if I went broke by hating and bitching about Obama all day instead of working hard?
I'm actually suprised by the hate coming from people who scream about "personal responsibility" toward those of us who worked hard, prospered, and doesn't have a raging hard-on hate for Obama that borders on pathalogical.

Thank you for admiting it, you were living under a bridge 4 years ago, many of the rest here were living with mom, anythings better than that! LOL

so the only people in the USA who could possibly be doing a bit better now than they were 3 years ago, lived with their mother?

interesting hypothesis you have.

Boy are you misinformed............I did not get a COLA raise for 3 years and yes we got one last year.....3,6% does not make up for 100% raise in the price of gas nor does it make up for the skyrocketing price of food cause by truckers raising their prices to cover the cost of their gasoline.........In case you did not know it every cost in passed down top the consumer..........wake up and smell the roses.......

Oh and the Hussein Obama administration with all their un needed regualations is one of the reasons Hussein Obama's administration is in charge and the buck stops with him.......They say no COLA because the cost of living did not go up..........I would love to show them my crocery bill.........

So now we are going back 4 years even though the poll says 3, and you are blaming Obama for stuff before his office? How does that work? By the way, COLA is figured by the BLS using a set formula from long before Clinton, or Bush took office:

The first automatic COLA, for June 1975, was based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) from the second quarter of 1974 to the first quarter of 1975. The 1976-83 COLAs were based on increases in the CPI-W from the first quarter of the prior year to the corresponding quarter of the current year in which the COLA became effective. After 1983, COLAs have been based on increases in the CPI-W from the third quarter of the prior year to the corresponding quarter of the current year in which the COLA became effective (Social Security Administration 2004).

Why are you so bitter that some people have improved their standing in life? Is there some unwritten rule that everyone is supposed to just wallow in misery until someone they like is elected? If you refuse to do anything to improve your life situation until the government's political priorities perfectly align with yours, then you'll be unhappy forever.

One whole month? And a January at that? Wow! There is a reason you should not believe chain emails.

I think he and another are telling us that if we are doing well when a Democrat is in office, there is something wrong with us.

My life has, in general, been getting better with each year I am alive. This has been the case regardless of who has been in the White House or who was controlling Congress at the time.

Well, and if you're three years older, per the OP, and still alive, I'd say you're doing okay. Beats the alternative.
