Would you go to war to defend the USA?

Where? I said "since the Korean War", which includes the Korean War. If I had meant since after the Korean War, I would have said that.

Huh......? I thought you meant that the Korean war was a "legitimate" war.

Presuming you are an American, would you go to war to defend the USA?

Certainly, provided of course is to actually defend and not something like VN or Iraq. There should actually be a threat to defend her from.

Dick Cheney is also old as ****, and has a ****ed up heart. Still didn't stop him from shooting his buddy in the face with some birdshot, though.

Dick cheney is the biggest draft dodger in american history. The guy supported vietnam but didnt have the balls to go.

meh, a lot of people dodged the draft. All I'm saying is I wouldn't want to be on the team that has to clear his house. The man is an embodiment of pure evil. Wouldn't be surprised if they found shoes made out of orphans in his basement.

Yeah but did they support it. Cheney supported it. He had no problem sending other people to fight his wars.

You mean all these wars for caspian gas fields and the arabs oil?

Presuming you are an American, would you go to war to defend the USA?

Yes, I have already and I would go to war again to defend the United States and her national interests.

It all depends on what "defending America" means. If it refers to ideology like the justifications we have used for other wars than no. If it is because we were attacked or there was an imminent attack then probably. It would have to be a country attacking us and not some "suspected" group of citizens. We used the justification of the possibility of communism spreading to fight the Vietnam war and that really did not have anything to do with us except a fear of "communism" spreading. Fear of thought is no reason to kill people.

You mean brainwashing by the U.S, media?

"10. Myth: If it is not mentioned in the media, then it is not real. So the CIA’s policy of mass mind control and collective brainwashing can’t be real because the TV news channels and other media outlets never mention it.

Fact: To a large degree, the CIA and the mainstream media are one and the same. The U.S. government’s state media is not like the Chinese, Russian, Cuban, or Iranian state media, but it is still a state media. The only difference is there is the illusion in America that there is a separation between the private sphere of news coverage and the official sphere of power. But in reality, there is no separation. Officials in the highest positions of power in Washington manage the news in America, direct the national conversation, cover up uncomfortable truths, and set the official standards for public debate. They are totalitarian thugs who masquerade as defenders of freedom and providers of security."

The OP question is too vague. Would I drop bombs on a country in the name of "defending Amurrica" because someone above me in rank points at them and alleges they're a threat? Probably not. If someone from that country had committed some act within mine, would I go drop bombs on his? Well that's not defending, it's avenging. If people from that country were literally militarily invading my country and killing fellow residents, yes I would go to war, and yes it would be defense.

Psh, that's small potatoes compared to their activities in the 60's and 70's. Unless you're detained in one of their black sites. MKULTRA/NAOMI/whatever the hell they call it now is alive and well.

I wouldn't.

I have better things to do. There are plenty of patriots who are willing to die for something they believe in. I'd rather live for it.

I'm afraid of people shooting at me. What can I say, they didn't teach me how to dodge bullets in school.

I don't understand what you are getting at. Are you saying I am close to the truth or I am wrong? Please explain.

You tell me. :) What's your candidate No. 1?

That's just it, no one is going to invade the US. I don't get the paranoia by some that live in the most powerful country on the planet. We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Frankly, the greatest danger for the USA is a civil war and breaking apart, imho.

The divide between the rich and the poor would have get worse, I think the next couple of elections will prevent that from happening.

The trouble is, of what is the OP asking about ?
Foreign adventures ?
Or a "Red October" ?
It had be best believed that I'd arm myself and kill if some skinhead or nazi showed up at my door.
The 'foreign adventures" should never have been, our "leaders" are not doing their homework.

I think we need to study history a lot more than we do.
Particularly Chinese - how did they become "unified" and what keeps them together ?

I would. However, I would ask in return that we not have a commander in chief, like GWB, that sends us into a war based on lies, deceit and manipulation. If Americans are going to be asked to give their lives, it should never be to satisfy a "war President's" ego and/or neocon agenda.

Which wars were for defense of the USA?

One example: the United States response to 9-11-2001 by invading Afghanistan to destroy al-Qaeda and their safe haven was clearly justified. The United States was attacked and fighting back/going to war is in defense of the USA. Based on that suicidal attack on 9-11-2001, we know there are organizations out there that will do anything to damage us and, if they acquire the means, destroy us. They don’t care about their own lives or the lives of innocent people when they viciously attack, so we must fight back against this when we can.
