Would you go to war to defend the USA?

Would you go to war to defend the USA? (Americans only, please)

I would go to war in order to defend my son and loved ones from an alien invasion in a heartbeat. If that means defending the US, then happy times. If that means defending them from the US, so be it. My loyalty lies first with family, then friends, then acquaintances, and then somewhere later on down the line state and country come into play. I owe nothing to this country and it owes nothing to me. We have, at worst, a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Korea wasnt a legitimate war. It was us being the police men of the world.

It was us preventing the spread of Soviet influence. We got a spectacular ally out of it, too. The South Koreans have been nothing but generous, and beneficial to maintaining each others economy. If it wasn't for the Chinese, North Korea wouldn't be the big question mark it is today.

It would depend on the situation and the invader, I might prefer their style of government over our own.

I'd go to war to defend my country. However, I wouldn't go and invade a foreign country unless there is proof that they attacked us. Other than that, if American is directly attacked, I'm leaving school and going to the nearest USMC recruiting station.

I think my awards should make it pretty clear what my answer would be.

You wouldn't, right? :2razz:

Are you kidding? I am the most craven coward you have ever seen. Of course that is what makes me so dangerous. You have no idea how a coward will react, lol. ;)

Since I went to war for US interests over seas,I suppose I would do it in defense too.

Defending the US from what? Much of our war history was not about defending the US from military threat to us, it was about establishing world hegemony.

We are a war mongering nation. We have been at war through most of our history.

The list of America at war starting in 1775 is based on data from the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Someone would be ignorant to invade the U.S. in my opinion.

You think the insurgency in Iraq was bad?

Try to march foreign troops through the South without taking casualties.

Dutch on the world

I don't even have to go into the partisan "Neocon" bull**** of the site, or it's partisan crap info.

Here are just two examples of what they call "war"...

1841 – McKean Island (Drummond Island/Taputenea), Gilbert Islands (Kingsmill Group), Pacific Ocean. A naval party landed to avenge the murder of a seaman by the natives.[RL30172]
1841 – Samoa. February 24. A naval party landed and burned towns after the murder of an American seaman on Upolu.[RL30172]

They are trying to use a list of military operations to somehow mean war, LMAO!

Yea keep going.

So seven people would not defend their own country, I find that very disturbing. I can understand people not wanting to fight foreign wars but if you wouldn't defend your family and community from a foreign invasion I don't even.......

I also find in interesting that I meet immigrants all the time that care more about this country than people that were born here.

The reality however is if we are invaded, the most useful thing people can do is either enlist, which not every one can do, and/or get the **** out of the military's way. Not being willing to enlist is not in itself a bad thing. Not every one is cut out to be in the military.

that is fairly sad.most people dont even know that a large chunk of the united states military are not citizens, and joined the military under an agreement to serve our country under contract until complete,to gain citizenship, which the military allows.

**** that takin' orders bull****.

Call me Tucker, leader of the Illinois insurgents.

Presuming you are an American, would you go to war to defend the USA?

It depends on the circumstances but, in general, yeah I would.

If you are talking about a force that can take over the country to the point there would be an Illinois insurgency, your insurgency is probably going to be shortlived. The level of equipment and training would far surpass anything you could gather. Of course for a force to be that badass to leave us at a point of having an insurgency, they would not laser rifles and powered battle armor and Gundams.

Who is invading???
