If you could go back in time to 2004 would you still vote for Bush?

If you could go back in time would you still vote for Bush over John Kerry?

  • No I would change my vote!

I do not think Bush's second term was of much consequence. We were already up to our necks in Iraq. No one was serious about the growing Housing Bubble. Had they been, efforts to curb it would have begun in his first term, and they did not. Bush claimed he had the "political capital" to reform Social Security with his win over Kerry, and found his bag empty. Kerry would have followed essentially the same trajectory in those years. The only thing that would have been different with Kerry is that we probably would not now have Obama.

Now THAT offers some interesting hindsight ;)

Doesn't it though? Instead of electing a credible Notbush, we'd have been looking for a Notkerry and probably have elected a Republican. McCain???? I wonder how that would have turned out.

Yeah, but your vote would still only count if you voted for the winner of the state-wide election.

An even better option would be using proportional voting systems so that we could end the giant douche turd sandwich monopoly AND make ti so that every vote actually counts.

Ah, yes, yet another good idea that is unpalatable politically.

The downside is that we'd have to endure the barrage of negative political ads that inundate the swing states. Oh well, we have TIVO now.

If I could go back to 2004 I would still have voted Libertarian (I think it was Badnarik at the time). But...if the premise is I could go back in time, then why would I choose to go back just to change a vote in the presidential election? So many more things I would rather do with a time machine!

very true. i'd have a few choice stock picks. even with my somewhat meager current savings, i could score pretty big.

come to think of it, after scoring big, i could return and score big again with the capital gains.

step 1 : collect underpants
step 2 : time machine
step 3 : profit

Gore has shown himself to be one giant stupid jackass. He could have been voted mayor of Podunk and been in way over his head. Your "guarantee" ain't worth fecal matter.

No ones saying he would have been amazing but just about anyone could have done better than GW Bush, that's my only gaurantee.

And that's the main drawback of democracy. It's generally decided by the people, and the people are generally idiots (which is why negative political ads actually work).

IIRC, I did vote to re-elect Bush in 2004. I did not vote for him initially in 2000, I voted Libertarian (can't remember the name).

No point to this post, just thinking out loud.

I'd hate to see the results of that much less a hypothetical 3rd Bush term. We may not even have a country if Bush hypothetically had a 3rd term.

well I have the only time machine so sucks to be u...

Quick poll for everyone that voted for Bush back in 2004! Not attacking Bush at all ( before navy pride wets his bed) just curious if you would still vote for Bush?

I live in Texas so it would not matter. even though Gore won the pop vote.

We might not have a country if Hussein Obama gets another term.......
