Does Political Correctness exist?

Too bad that is not what you asked. We all know you made an attempt to make "the left" look stupid. You failed. Fess up and move on.

No one has to make the left look stupid.....Every time they open their mouth they do it to theirselves........

It's simply the evolution of English language labels for groups and individuals in order to make them feel better about themselves. It should be CD, common decency.

Of course, like anything else, we take it too far sometimes. Can anyone give me an example of PC gone wild? I can't think of one at the moment.

Of course it exists. "Political correctness" is simply another term for a form of dogmatism not too much unlike that of religious fundamentalism where certain attitudes are accepted uncritically as the price for conformity.

It's all about the propagation of certain memes with various disincentives acting to restrict original thinking.

......and how about when people type?

There is no such word as “theirselves” (and you certainly can’t spell it “theirselfs” or “thierselves”); it’s “themselves.”

Takes one to know one I guess.

I have never heard any one deny political correctness exists. Can you show me where "the left" is denying it's existance? Not some random person, but "the left".
Is "the left" some monolithic organization that we can quote directly? If not, the purpose of your question escapes me. If so, please provide a link or otherwise establish who you expect to be quoted.
The purpose of the question was to place such an unreasonable standard of proof as to make it pretty much unanswerable, thus giving the illusion that the answer would be 'X' without then being forced to defend the 'X' answer.

Or the purpose of the question was to show how stupid the OP was. If "the left" beleives something, then he should have been able to show that a significant portion at least of those who make up the left believes that. Nice try though.

Honestly, what are your thoughts on this?

Some on the right seem to state it permeates our country, and some on the left apparently deny its existence.

Help?

Of course political correctness exists. Anyone that thinks it doesn't is either an idiot or has been living in a rock for the past 20-30 years.

Yes, it exists. Not as an official policy, but as a pervasive discomfort with stating views on highly political subjects in an honest manner, for fear of being thought negatively of.

People have trouble defining it, I think that's the real problem.

When I am asked to perform what used to be called Holiday or Christmas season music at elementary schools. I submit a play list and it is highly scrutinized is very subjective. The children clamor for "Christmas Music". The parents are the people who are offended, who are not even present. For example, "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree", "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Santa Baby" were objected to. I stood my ground on all and told them it is either "Santa baby" or "Satan baby". At the price I give (which is nothing)they capitulate.

PC is nothing more than kowtowing to socially lazy and small minded people who wish to exert some control over the behavior of group, organization or society. Before their was PC their was a decency in society as a whole where self discipline was the vanguard of what was acceptable behavior. The concept of PC weakens the fabric of a society that speaks to the individual a self sufficient member of society and makes that individual dependent on what to think and say pursuant to the watch word of the week. Very disempowering, emasculating and demeaning it is a blight on soul of cultural values and thwarts the "melting pot" ideals that have made countries like the US a multicultural haven.

Political correctness will be the ruin of all of us.

Enough said.
