I'm no racist by any stretch. But all human beings are guilty of profiling each other. You see a woman in revealing clothes, you assume she's promiscuous. You see a white guy wearing a NASCAR shirt, you assume he's southern. You see a black guy on a street corner in a bad neighborhood, you assume he's up to something. It's a vicious cycle that we have created. We profile people that look a certain way. The people being profiled portray themselves that way because they assume that's what gets them results. The woman in revealing clothes knows that attracts more men, the guy wearing a NASCAR shirt fits in with the rest of the NASCAR fans, the black guy on the corner knows people will come to him for drugs. You can call it racial profiling all you want. I think its simply using the data and indicators in your mind to deduce what kind of person someone is based off of appearance. We are trained to do it in the military. In Iraq, you see an Arabic male, 18-30, taking pictures of your guardposts, you swoop out and detain him. That's not profiling. That is predicting his intent by using indicators that we have associated with terrorist activity. Could he simply be a student of the University of Baghdad doing a report on the American occupation? Sure, he could. But the indicators suggest other intent. By the way, that's a true story about the Iraqi guy. I will debate this with someone all day because EVERY person is guilty of stereotypes and profiling. Its called having a discerning mind. Not racism
