if he served in the past 70 years he would know the military has not been all white, its been mixed heavily through both world wars korea and vietnam, infact im pretty sure the draft era drafted more black people than white.

Well that is social engineering in the military, and he is against it.

a large amount of the military is black, and to a lesser extent alot of gays in the military pre ending dadt.ending dadt didnt do anything for gays but allow them to wear pink shirts and tights around post without getting yelled at.

Well, and have a better haircut.

Trying to eliminate people who might disagree with him.

I guess when he is in gay rights threads then he should keep his yap shut since he was never raised by gay parents or had gay sex . . . . . that we know of

but some how im guessing that will be "different" and this broken logic wont apply then :D

thats not social engineering blacks were required to serve during the draft because they were seen at the time as lesser citizens.after the draft many stayed because even the crap pay they had then was better than what they had,and the military gave them every tool to succeed, its up to soldiers to use those tools.

if he was in any war in the recent century black people were already there,so you cant argue social engineering.

NP clearly thinks racially-integrated units was "social engineering".

ok he probably thinks that but they werent, they were there nbecause they were seen as lesser citizens during the draft years, they stayed in because the benefits and the chance to exceed, alot of the highest ranking military officials are black.

I have no problem with women in combat roles if they meet the physical criteria.

I do feel afraid though they won't get justice/protection in instances of rape, sexual harassment/hostile environment, etc.

the military already has strict rules aginst such acts,it just depends on whether or not the said branche enforces it or plays gender favorites.

Totally disagree. Military leadership works very hard in that area. Incidents do occur, but they are handled quickly. The Neanderthal days are quickly coming to an end.

Nope USS PUGET SOUND use to be homeported here in Bremerton...Did not know about that one....thanks for the info.....The Arcadia and the Puget Sound are not Combatants though....they are support ships........

The Acadia (Arcadia is different).
USS Acadia — During the 1991 Persian Gulf War, the press branded the destroyer tender USS Acadia the “Love Boat” after 36 sailors - 10 percent of the women aboard - became pregnant during the 7 months the giant repair ship was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm. The ship’s 1,250-person crew included 360 women.
The List: Military scandals - Washington Times

I am sorry but I cannot find any references regard the USS Puget Sound as the "Love Boat", there are however several references to the USS Acadia as the "Love Boat".

As far as I am concerned they can keep on making women soldiers. Here, There, and Everywhere. pretty much accepted all around the world. Not to mention in Africa they even have tribes where the Women are the Warriors, and or Hunters.

There is nothing wrong with Women Warriors.....if anything I would want to be this guy.

your job should be to prove women are capable of combat,nt that they can be hot and have vaginas and boobs,if i wanted that id watch porn,if i wanted em to fight id put them through a gender neutral stress test to prove their worth.

The Navy has zero tolerance for any of that stuff but it happens and women and men get together......Its the nature of the beast.

I don't need to prove it.....there are women who have been in combat since the beginning of time. All one need do is check the Annuals of history. As a matter of fact, one of the top fighting forms in the world was created for women to defend not only themselves but the Emperors of China.

I stand corrected thank you but you have to admit that is quite a few pregnancies where there is zero tolerance for that kind of thing.

I would definitely say that 10% is pretty high! Half of the onus does fall on the men though. I think that men and women can do better when dealing with tight quarters and no fresh faces if we expect them to. :)

tehy can, and often do in other cultures. I THINK we tend to allow more immaturity in ours, and instead demanding maturity, make excuses for why we can't expect adults to behave like adults.

The Navy demands maturity and holds accountable the ones that do not meet the expectation.

Certainly I hope so, but I remember back when a gay salior was beaten to death, and how much I had to listen to the excuses. And I listened too often to the excuses that we can't expect soldiers to behave.

They do much better. Many things have changed in 20 years since Dsert Storm.

There are still issues on the ship, but nothing like that.

10 % is way high, but note that even then it was so high as to be noteworthy. It was far from the norm.

sadly, you are wrong. 18-22 year olds continue to be 18-22 year olds.
