I agree minimum wage or some derivative thereof should be a living wage.

Well, I'm against the concept of minimum wage, as I am other economic inefficiencies that can be labeled as ceilings or floors.

In the 90's, hell, even for most of Bush's terms, I might have agreed with this. In today's economic climate it's either incredibly short-sighted or typical Party Line.

You're right - it is typical Libertarian line. The economy sucks, I know. Does that mean Wal-mart should suddenly force upon itself a higher wage for employees out of sheer emotional pleas and reactions like Catawba just did?

Somewhere along the line we became so much of a dependent nanny state that a lot of things that are privileges, we view as rights. I blame anyone - especially presidents, regardless of affiliation - for selling the simplicity and luxury of the "American dream". The truth is that not everyone deserves 2.3 kids, 1.7 cars, and 1.4 pets just because they weaseled through the revolving door we call a public education system.

You can start with Madison Ave c 1955.

You're against minimum wage, then you must really be upset by the fact that the Nuke Industry can't exist and never could have gained a foothold withut total government financing, and it continues to this day. You must be enraged! Then there are those electric utilities, why don't you generate some electricity and sell it to your neighbor. You know, make a few bucks. Well, it's not legal because our utilities are franchises and that is just the tip o' that iceberg. Why not drill a well on your little ol' acre and sell the gas you find to your neighbor? Woops, not legal, must have at least 144 acres to do that by the old laws and I think horizontal drilling changed that. Now, if you have a feww millions, this type of law can work for you, you just have to buy a politician to make sure it is made law. Renewable energy? No friggin' way, Jose. Local energy generation cuts the Entrenched utilities out of the money loop and the government's tax collector out of the loop. Oops! That ain't gonna happen. How 'bout all that no-bid military stuff. Gee, you must not be able to sleep nights worrying about these Corporate welfare scams. The American Dream is like "coitus interruptus" and I'd like to see it get back on track. Corporatism is the problem. I've only pointed out a couple of instances that are replicated throughout the economy. Let's get "welfare" in perspective. Let's start with a metaphorical hangin' o' the bankers.

Yep, nuke industry never should have gotten a foothold... welfare should be workfare, TARP never should have happened, Banks should have been left to fail and GM should be but a dream right now.
