And for us, our investments are doing very well. And what we have been exporting oil. So I think it may be better to not export our oil.

That's what I dont understand. I am not certain on this but I am fairly certain that we produce enough oil to cover at leats 80% of our demand yet we still ship it. It makes no sense to me.

People elsewhere are willing to pay higher prices than we are.
 
the obama administration is making a big mistake not using Canadian oil. i want relief now not security down the road.

Just like the US, Canada also consumes more oil than it produces.

But we still do export oil! That was the point of the Keystone Pipeline. They wanted to ship oil to our refineries to be exported. We don't use all of the oil we produce.

Yes, except for a domestic allotment, unless oil is nationalized, it is sold to the world oil market. Show me the statistics that prove there has been a single year (under either party) since 1971 that the US has produced more oil than it consumed?

Canada also consumes more oil than it produces.

I understand that we consume more than we produce, but wouldn't the price be lower if we didn't have to rely on Middle Eastern oil AS much?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you mean if we replaced our oil imports with alternative energy?

Would we buy it from Canada? How much would they charge? Do you think they would give us a discount, i.e. charge less than the countries we have been buying from? Oh, BTW, that oil pipeline for the Canadian oil sand oil it to get the oil to refineries on the gulf so it can be sold by its owners into the international market.

No. It's a world market. The US government doesn't own the oil that is pumped from US controlled land including under the sea. If it did it could set the price.

Correct, we would have to Nationalize our oil as Iraq had done before we overthrew them and got their oil law changed.

Yes, and nationalize the refineries too. This would be too much fun except that it is so sad that so many has so much misunderstanding, e.g. Canadian oil sands oil and the pipeline.
 
Catawba, it appears that we have stopped the posting on 'Obama is making a mistake' But, the intended extrapolation from the messaging about the oil pipeline has been demonstrated in this thread to be working.
