Good lordy. How many of these identical polls are going get created? Any chance the Mods could just hang a "sticky" on one of them and let the Left take potshots at FoxNews forever?

Seems like a fair option.....

well thats what the thread title says but if you read the thread people on the left and right ate making fun of fox's false slogan and other networks also.

But I do agree it has been done, the obvious tends to get repeated.

Well I don't watch fox news. But if it's it Thr same league as tripe filled, feces stained paper otherwise known as The Daily Telegraph (also owned by Murdoch)

For those of you who've never had the pleasure of that bonehead paper. Take the WSJ, a fairly respectable and sensible paper. Get rid of it's business orientation, most of its balance and imagine it was written by a three year old trying to write a story in as little lines as remotely possible. Oh and don't let facts get in the way of a good story, just don't put them in.
/rant over.

I never said they were fair and balanced, just more fair and balanced than MSNBC. Fox does have a conservative lean, but I don't think all biases are of equal magnitude. Fox has a few good reporters that I think try their best to be objective. O'Reilly is pretty fair in my opinion along with Greta.

I know that and my apologies if you thought I implied that

my point is, if we are lookin at a fair and balanced scale 1-10, theres no real point of using the phrase fair and balanced if one is a -2 and the other is a -3 LOL

To me its like saying this rapist and murder isnt quite as mad ass this rapist murder. they both suck and are the worse of the worse.

I like O'Rielly a good bit actually, dont really have an opinion on Greta but again they are only better than the worse on FOX. If we are starting in the middle O'Rielly is clearly right its not even a question. Not as crazy extreme as Beck of course but clearly right.

Tbh, I don't worry about biases much.

People don't watch news shows, read newspapers to challenge their worldview and political orientation. They read it to confirm thier own bias. If something is making claims that challenge your own beliefs people will change the chanel. For instance if Fox News ran a story showing that the NHS was bettter than healthcare 'American Style' the maority of you would tune out. Therefore we should acknowledge that all people and all media agencies have some sort of bias and get over it.

Yep

Like I just said O'rielly seems "fair" because of who he is being compared to. He isnt as nutty as Beck or Rush so it paints him more fair but if we are starting in the middle he clearly is not.

It would be fine with me if he was simply a biased pundit. He's more than that; he's a sorry excuse for someone who claims to be a newsman/journalist, he blatantly lies, as evidenced above. So not only is he biased, he has purposely engaged in unethical journalistic practices.

Well, I can't disagree because I wouldnt be able to defend my stance is.
I guess I just sorta like him because i NEVER took him seriously so him sucking at being objective never bothered me.

I think he is good at his job (entertainment/controversy) and when he is away from fox, at times, he is honest about being basically a hack and for entertainment.

but again youll never here me say he is fair and balanced.

O'Reilly is not fair, has never been fair. He only seems sane in comparison to all the other ****nuts and dimwits they have on that channel.

Eh, my own bias is kicking in a bit. Sean Hannity and I share numerous social beliefs. I don't think they're insane, but that they're as biased as everyone else. The main problem I have, tbh, is claiming to be fair/balanced/unbiased.

If we want to talk about dimwits and numbnuts let's talk about Maddow, Schultz, and that arrogant d-bag from The Young Turks.

Feel free to create an MSNBC thread if you like. I don't watch them either. Cable news is essentially the armpit of American journalism.

To me, that Jeremy Glick guy WAS a weasel...

Sir, you are too kind :D

To me, that Jeremy Glick guy WAS a weasel...

Matter of opinion, but that doesn't excuse Bill's unprofessional bull****, first trying to tell Glick that he knew more about his father than Glick did, then the "why do you hate America", and then going the "cut off his mic" route.

O'Reilly is a "conservative" and has a bias on his show, but when it comes to interviews I think he's pretty fair. TBH I think O'Reilly tries to manipulate people into thinking he's really objective and moderate. I wouldn't call Fox News fair and balanced. Their panels are hardly balanced (usually 3 conservatives and 1 liberal who isn't smart enough to logically defend his position). However, some of their interviewers are pretty fair and election reportings seem to be fair and without bias. I personally get my information from websites that I view to be less biased and more objective (like realclearpolitics and ontheissues).

again not even saying I disagree but in the few and far moments they might actually be fair and balanced it does nothing to their overall appearance. Its like a secret serial killer taking his little niece to the playground and buying her a birthday cake. Yep thats sweet and nice, but he still has 8 people chopped and buried in his basement so he is still a quack! lol

The Question asked was 'IS FOX NEWS FAIR AND BALANCED?'
My response to that was a resounding yes.
Now had the question been 'IS FOX RESPONSE TO THE NEWS FAIR & BALANCED' then quite obviously it is not, but in mitigation neither are any of the other NEWS CHANNELS FAIR AND BALANCED.
Each News service reports with a bias dependent on the political leanings of those who edit and then read the News.

News reporters are like sport refs. They are only fair if their calls are going your way.

Subquestion: how many times will someone think they're the first person ever to ask this question on DP? The count is numbering into the thousands by now.

Why do you think FOX News is fair and balanced?

They have their own bias, they're just more dignified about it.
They aren't as dignified as they used to be. Their guests say vile things.
