I used to be of the opinion that even white supremacist speech should be allowed on forums on the internet, but I've changed my mind. The internet is a different animal. There aren't really very many white supremacists in real life, but when a place on the internet starts permitting hate speech they infest it like there is no tomorrow. Politicalforum.com decided to permit hate speech for all the high minded reasons about free speech and whatnot and look what happened to them. Like 60% of the posters there are white supremacists now and most the normal people had to leave because you couldn't have a discussion about anything without white supremacists spamming it to death with off topic hate speech. In my opinion, the quality of discussion on PF way back when was actually higher than it is here, but now it's just a sewer for white hate over there. Any forum that places no limits on white supremacist hate speech eventually just turns into a stormfront.

To be clear, I fully support free speech and would strongly oppose the government forbidding racist speech or something. But a discussion forum is a private community. The people who run the site are well within their rights to keep the most disruptive, counter productive, elements out in order to preserve a higher quality of discussion.

Unless they're violating the rules, they should be allowed freedom of speech. They should also be respected. White supremacists are entitled to an opinion just like everyone else. I've never understood why people can't have cordial and civilized discussions in spite of being diametrically opposed to another person's point of view.

Sorry, they get none of my respect. The best I can do is to allow them to be. They start gathering around me and I'll fight them like I would a spread of small pox.

So naturally I voted 'NO' they should not be allowed to post their inerrant beliefs on this forum. I figure there are already some white supremacists posting on this forum that keep this kind of belief to themselves. Good on them.

At least forty brave German patriots attempted to assassinate Adolph Hitler, along with several Poles. Are you calling them extremists and scumbags as well?

You are giving unwarranted moral authority to the will of the people. Just because a plurality of the people want something, doesn't make it right.

That's silly. There is no heat as Hitler wasn't a practicising, or from what we can tell a believing, Christian. For instance, from my memory, Albert Speer shows no such thing and in fact seems to show, at times, a decided anti-Christian temperament. He is silly to get worked up about it. Tell him to calm down and remember Hitler was irreligious and anti-Christian.

It is an interesting fact that when British intelligence heard the plotters had not succeeded they celebrated. It is not important, but I find it interesting.

Ah names, you do like to invoke names all the time. It must be hard being you and carrying the weight of the world on your little shoulders.

People are allowed (at least here) to like or dislike anyone or anything they like and it is not up to you or anyone to say they can't. Everyone has their personal reasons for liking or not liking a person or a group and until you walk a mile in their shoes, you have no say over their beliefs.

We can never have 100% "free speech" when there are so many "haters" around...
They can ruin one forum, but another one can replace it and on and on.....
Hopefully, over time, the haters will die out...

But better presented as " mans greed leads to others need."
And, "man" must learn that his hate will lead to other men hating.....
Elementary, but above the head of so many...
