People are forgetting that the real guilty person here is Sandusky................

No ones forgetting the real guilty person is Sandusky. However there's not a ton to say or discuss about it...he's scum, he's likely going to go to jail for the rest of his life, and the chances of that not happening are slim to none. Its not that people are forgetting about him, its just there's not much more to say then what is obviously going to happen to him.

Indeed - Sandusky will go to jail.

And boy don't they just love them some child rapists, there . . . they will gut him like the pig he is.

He must have breathed a sigh of relief when they psuedo confronted him all those years ago about this - and then went all these years all stress free and happy . .. and then one day - woosh - there goes the wind tearing right through his sails. I don't know how people can be like that and then show their faces with everyone knowing the sins they've committed.

I seriously hope it is not true.

Neither and no vote
Joe is the product of another era, when a good deal of people were "not so nice" - to minorities, children, women....If we "fire " him, should we fire 10,000 Catholic priests as well, or 50 million or us....
Those without sin, cast the first stone....
What the so-called "news" dwells on I find to be disgusting !

The Catholic priests who molest children should only be fired by the Catholic church if the Catholic church 1.) thinks it's wrong to molest children and 2.) doesn't want to be associated with the behavior. Firing or not firing isn't the same as making sure someone is reported to the police and prosecuted.

you can argue that he should step down for moral reasons but you cannot argue that he should be fired because he "didn't do enough"

He should have been fired by Penn State if Penn State doesn't want people to think it's in favor of molesting children. He knew. He didn't do what most "normal" people would have done if they had "normal" interests at heart. Football First is not a defense.

He was required to notify his superior....He did that..........The only thing he might be guilty of is a lack of good judgment which is not a crime............

Staying or going has little to nothing to do with crime. He may be criminally liable. He may not. As a friend of the Sandusky family, he may have lived with a knowledge of molestation much like the other little kids who knew something was wrong. Who knows? There are a lot of excuses and a lot of reasons he may or may not be legally liable. It doesn't mean that he should not have been fired. He's a figurehead for the school. The school, it turns out, doesn't want people to think they condone child molestation or that they would cover it up. "The school" likely did cover it up, but the who's and how's won't come out for a long time if ever.

Should a man be judged only upon his greatest mistake? No. But, no amount of goodness and success will cancel out some types of mistakes either.

no one on this forum has made that claim, so please stop saying it. it just makes you look hysterical

True - no one on this forum.

Unfortunately - the rioting students from campus have made this view loud and clear . . . I hope at some point they realize how wrong they are for opposing a school's action when that school is cohorting with the Devil. (I almost wrote "when they grow up" - but you know what - they're suppose to be GROWN UP right now being adults and all)

They should be protesting THE SCHOOL'S PAST decisions to not take any action against Sandusky at all.

Alleged Victims' Lawyer: Penn State Board Made Wrong Call By Firing Joe Paterno | ThePostGame

"The board of trustees got it wrong. They should have consulted the victims before making a decision on Mr. Paterno...They should have considered these victims watch TV and are aware of the students' reaction and may not want to be associated with the downfall of Mr. Paterno. The school instead elected to do what it felt was in its own best interest at the time. Isn’t that what put the school in this position in the first place?"

Go and he should not be allowed at any of the games or on campus. Maybe if he is not allowed to be there at the games he will drop dead of a broken heart as he put the love of the game over children. He is a sick man and I hope he dies soon.

I could give ****all about football. what would you have had Joe do? take the law into his own hands and kill the guy?

I love how all you guys are squealing "he should have done more" and yet none of you have a freakin clue what that "more" should have been

Your avatar suggest otherwise... You have a football helmet as your personal avatar.

Of course, he will. That's a contractual obligation. And you're right....it was certainly past time for this guy to move over.

He has said in past he wants to die down on the field. I am glad it looks like that will not happen and wish him a painful death and hopefully soon.

Oh and now hearing him called "Papa Joe" gives me the creeps. I have a feeling Papa turned a blind eye to LOTS of messed up stuff and is not the wonderful kind old man some are trying to make him out to be. Hopefully it will all come to light.

After 46 years, the Joe Paterno era ends ‘within days or weeks’ - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF*Blog - Yahoo! Sports

Should Joe Paterno stay or go?

I do not care how many games he won ... it was directly reported to him that an assistant coach was discovered with a 10 year old boy in the football complex ... hands to shower wall and was was forced to endure anal sex.

Paterno did not call the police to investigate! Shame on him ...Paterno only requested the asst not bring minors to the football complex.

Anyone that knew of these shameful crimes and did not report is complicit.

I am disgusted and sad for humanity. Truly we are doomed when a man with the power and respect Paterno had .... to do the only right and moral action and chose to cover it up and turn his head ... for a football charade. My heart breaks for that little boy.

Let them all hang their heads in complete shame.

especially the grad student who actually witnessed the rape and did absolutely NOTHING to stop it. amazes me that so many people are OUTRAGED and want to crucify Paterno for "not doing enough" and yet those same people never even mention McQueary. I guess he isn't famous enough to warrant hatred.

Yikes. Painful death. Well, I'll be satisfied that his legacy has been destroyed and that he was thrown out on his ass -- not on his terms, but on "ours." Oh, and that hopefully the statute of limitations hasn't passed and that he's charged with "failure to report" in his mandated position...and spends the next few years in the court system defending his "honor." Ha!

As to McCreary, he's a little bit difference, imo. He was a student. He reported to a bunch of people...and those people failed.

McCreary actually witnessed the rape, did nothing to stop it but he gets a pass because he reported it. HE FAILED. the only difference is that he isn't high profile and it wouldn't have been as sensational a story to report: "anonymous grad student at Penn State witness child rape and stands idly by while a youung boy is sodomized in the shower.

it's a bit hypocritical to give McCreary a pass because he reported it and "those" people failed while at the same time vilifying Paterno for reporting it and "those" people failed.

That's the difference of accountability standards for a man versus a boy.

sorry, grad students (unless you are doogie howser) are at least 22-23 years old. that's a man, not a boy.

I ask again: why are those so eager to lynch Paterno so equally eager to absolve the one and only person who could have actually stopped the attack?

sure Paterno didn't do enough, he should have forced McCreary to go to the cops. But McCreary is/was a ****ing gutless coward who stood by and watched a young boy get raped and didn't lift a finger to try to stop it

You're right. Gutless coward.

how could anyone witness such an act and not at least TRY to do something to stop it? scream like a little girl if you have to and get a bunch of people to come running. Do something. don't just stand and watch.

This has been thoroughly refuted by multiple people in this thread, and you still bring it up?

1) McQueary is not famous, Paterno is

2) No one is not outraged at his actions

3) You have had this explained before

which is part of my point. no one gives a rat's ass that McQueary is a gutless POS

2) No one is not outraged at his actions

I guess that's why you see all those comments expressing it.....oh wait, you don't

No, we give a ****, but people(shockingly) tend to talk about people we know of, not people we never heard of.

Holy ****, you don't hear people talking about some one other than Paterno in a thread about Paterno, except that a fair number of posts actually do talk about him.

JoePa was on his last leg as a coach anyway.
