I am just curious, because a lot of times I tend to want to side with the conservatives on here because seems like a lot of you are just bitching because you have to actually work a lot to make a lot of money so...how many hours do you work on average a week?

I normally work about 60 hours a week. Lowest is 48, most is around 72. I have a baby daughter to take care of as well. I also do design and writing work here and there on contract on the side. I sleep like 4-5 hours a night. I am obviously Democrat. I support some of the ideas of OWS but as a whole think it's counter-productive (or not productive at all). Just trying to get a feel for how you all are...

I work part time, but no one is allowed over time. Hour caps enforced, regardless of performance or profits quotas reached or exceeded.

I thought you were going to school?

When I'm in the office I try pretty hard not to put in any more than 40 hours a week, though I usually end up working an hour or two of overtime each week. This is mainly because I'm salaried, so I don't get paid for overtime, and because every 5 or 6 weeks I go on a business trip for a week, and will end up putting in around 80 hours in 7 days, which I also don't get paid for.

I work part time at a grocery store. I usually work 8 hour shifts, I get at least 24 hours a week in, but that may change soon as the holidays come in. For example, this week I am getting in 32 hours.

Typically I put in about 50 hours a week

That includes the shift change when I come in early to get information and stay late to pass it on. Along with the training aspects

I might not get a paycheck - but I do "work" . . . remodeling the kitchen - I put in 6 - 10 hours a day, usually taking Sunday off.

It's weird at my office right now. It used to be reliable 50 hour weeks so I just worked that but now we have fewer people and alot more smaller jobs rather than a few larger ones so I'll go one week at 40 and the next at 60 and the next at 50. Whatever it takes to get out the workload that week. I'd say my average is 50 or slightly less.

I work at a department store, 8 hours per day and 1 day off at week.

So, 64 hours per week.

I'm salaried, and on average work 45 hours a week. However, a few times a year (like this past month) we'll be launching a project and I'll put in 70+.

I'm salaried, I average around 60, sometimes more, rarely less.

I'm 40 hours a week on salary.

I work as many hours as I have to to keep my operation running normal. There's no such thing as quitting time. Quitting time is, "when I'm finished". Five-O'Clock is just another hour in the day.

As a full time student I work 60-70+ hours per week.

I only work a 40 hour week this time of year, but it's usually closer to 50 between February and June.

I pay myself a small salary, and then evaluate the cash flow needs by mid summer to decide whether I can allow myself a little more. The last couple of years, my full time employees have made more than me.

The entire poll is flawed, John. I'm sorry, but you don't even account for profession or skill level as a minimum. And what is a lot of money? So you know how many hours everyone works, then what? Some people work overtime, and that can be either mandatory or voluntary. Some salaried people own businesses, which require them to work hours based on the current business situation. I appreciate your hard work for your family; I myself even had an additional part-time job a few years ago, but I don't see what this thread is really getting at except counting people's hours out of context.

I'm salaried and am expected to work 44 hours per week. I occasionally exceed that, but I try not to. I have no desire to work more than that.

I am on-call, 24/7. Some days are very quiet (I even get to sleep in), some days have 2 sun rises. Our work tempo is about to get a whole lot heavier this next week.

Did one class to gauge it and see if I had the time, right now I do not on 2nd shift. Need to get on 3rd shift eventually then I can continue to do more either part-time with more, or hopefully full-time student.

Well salaried or not in general the more hours you work chances are you are making more. Salaried people at my work, and higher paid hourly people drive newer cars, the ones that try everything to work a straight 40 or less do not. My point is, it is indeed hard to gauge how hard one works, but going by how many hours they put in a day is the best way I could come up with.

I have worked since I was 14. After grad school I went directly into 60-80 hour weeks for the next 25 years so that I could get back down to 40 hours and live comfortably as I glide to retirement in 10 years. Take the time to smell the daisies while you can.

I haven't worked fulltime in years. When I was younger I worked at bar tending or as a nursing asst. Over the years, I moved and became a cashier instead. Then 10 years ago I went to parttime. So I get whatever hours they dole out to me. Most times it's between 15-20, but in the winter, it can drop even lower. I did the fulltime thing all my life, and decided I only wanted whatever I could get from then on. I just like being around coworkers and the public. But parttime is enough to get me out of the house where I can be around people.
