Forgive him? I've never met him. If he's broken the law, he should be arrested or fined or whatever. He shouldn't get better treatment than anyone else who has unlimited funds for attorneys. While I do think people who make money off of children's entertainment should be held to a higher standard as inevitable role models, I also think adults who look to entertainers as role models need to grow up.

I can't remember many of Mel's movies that I didn't like a lot. If he makes more, I'll probably watch them, too.

There are actors I can't stand to watch, but it's usually because of the crap they put in their work not because of the crap they put into their personal lives.

I think Mel Gibson is a joke. But, I also think Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Tim Robbins, and Nicolas Cage are all jokes, too. I'll still watch their movies if they make good ones. I know a lot of people who have turned their personal lives into a joke - but, it doesn't necessarily mean they suck at their job. Actors are not leaders, they're entertainers.

I have no reason to need to forgive him. He's an egomaniac whose angry rants were publicized purely because of his celebrity. Most of us have or will do awful things at some point in our lives. Something about casting the first stone...blah blah blah.

I really don't know him too well, at all. Secondly, I hardly watch TV unless it's Supernatural, so Hollywood vanity doesn't get to me.
