Fox News; fair and balanced? Do you think FOX News is fair and balanced or my way or the highway? Are they trying to report the news or just trying to find some dirt on Obama. If you watch when they interview someone, if that person tries to express an opinion of their own, they shout them down and just spout off what they want you to hear. I think O’Riely is the father of this kind of; let’s see, you can’t call it reporting, you can’t call it news forecasting, I don’t think you can call it fair and balanced, Oh yea I remember, I think it’s called Propaganda when someone tries to get you to see their side of the story and don’t want you to hear the other side. I know it’s just TV; that’s fine, but don’t try to sell me crap wrapped up in newspaper. If they would put half as much effort in to find out how to fix the problems in this country as they do on try to find some way to discredit Obama, then they could probably solve some of the problems we have in this country. And it’s not just FOX but CNN, MSNBC, and all the other propaganda mills out there. If you are a news channel, then report the news; and regardless of what you think, I may be smart enough to from my own opinion. And if you are a talk channel; well that’s fine, but label it that way, don’t just throw in a few news bites and call it a news channel, and tell me it is fair and balanced.

Well, this is my fair and balanced opinion, and my question to you is; are news channels such as FOX and CNN really news channels or are they propaganda mills for sale to the highs bidder?

Foxsports is in my opinion the best sports channel. The news channel is obviously a media arm of the Republican Party. 100% politicized, completely biased, pro-corporate, big money up your nose kinda guy. For what it's worth.

There should be other options for it to be a good poll: Other, I don't know, and some alternatives like deliberate ignorance, etc...
As for my opinion, the news is mainly idiotic talking points that the public mostly know and don't care about

I'm hangin in there with you Fuzzy; no disrespect ment, it's just your avatar likes just like a friend of mind, and we all call him Fuzzy, I don't know if that is really you, but if you look at my avatar that's me looking back at you; gun drawn, dead wood of Society forcing the rich to take a long look at theirself in the mirror. I'm just trying to shake the bushes and open some eyes. Seems to me you may already have your eyes open wide. Thanks for your opinion my friend.

You brought up a very good point sir. But this is my poll, and like all polls, you have to answer the question I ask with the answers I give so I can get the response I want, that's the way polls work. But at lease I have left you room to state your own opinion. And I think you want to agree with me, but they have brainwashed you into thinking that the news is mainly idiotic talking points, when in fact the news is suppose to be the facts about what is happen in the world and keep your opinion out of it. So all I'm saying is,tell me the news, but keep your opinion out of it. That is a news anchor's job. Talk show host give their opinions. So call it the FOX talk show channel is all I'm saying, Don't spread propoganda and call it news.

there is no such thing as a unbiased news channel that actually just reports the news without trying to cram a political point of view down your throat. For example instead of calling illegals "illegals","illegal aliens", or "illegal immigrants" the liberal networks will generally call them undocumented immigrants and I have seen some go as far to call them undocumented Americans and they call anti-illegal immigrant groups as anti-immigrant groups and anti-illegal immigrations laws as anti-immigrant laws. They also do this with stories involving firearms. For example if a nutcase shoots a bunch of people then its a story for weeks and they are doing stories on why we need more anti-2nd amendment laws while if a person uses his gun to stop a scumbag from killing other people the story gets little to no airtime and they do no stories for why we need to quit ****ting on the 2nd amendment. They also do this with politicians. For example a republican has an affair or or allegedly tries to solicit gay sex then it is news for weeks, but a democrat New Jersey governor has an affair and he is a brave man for coming out of the closet, a famous well known democrat presidential candidate has an affair and it only gets a token mention. I imagine Fox News does the same thing but the opposite. Only ****en retard thinks there is unbiased news.

There is no such thing as objectivity in journalism; it is, and always has been, a myth. News is written and produced by human beings, who all have their biases, prejudices, preferences and personal positions. It is inevitable that those creep into their journalism... in many cases they are simply partisan hacks, thinly veiled.

EVERYONE is biased. The main difference is that some will tell you so plainly, and others try to hide it.

The Left has NBC, CBS, ABC, and most newspapers.... they need to quit cryin'.

Fox is right-leaning in news, sure. So?

You answered your own so, if Fox had a motto other than fair and balanced, I'm sure the hubbub from the hacks would be a fair bit less.

You have a point, but I doubt the latter statement. :)

I think the OP was referring more to the "persuasive" content that riddles Fox News programming, and is showing up more and more lately. On MSNBC, for instance. They used to be a "liberal" outlet. Now they're turning into Fox for Dems.

A news outlet should report news, not be cheerleaders for one party or another.

The "Fourth Estate" was supposed to provide us with information so that we could exercise our right to vote from a position of knowledge. They weren't supposed to JOIN one of the teams they were supposed to be reporting ON. Then pretend to be doing their original job while pumping "messaging" for one side and against the other.

I have no problem with the left or right having programming that appeals to their biases. I used to watch MSNBC for this reason. But they've gone past providing a little confirmation bias to trying to propagandize me. And that pisses me off. I hate seeing **** on that channel that I KNOW is misleading from reading conversations here.

There isn't any outlet I am aware of that hasn't gone past the bias of the individual to an obvious "taking of sides". And I think it should be addressed.

Your poll was very limited. It's just like a biased poll asking: Do you support abortions and a women's freedom, or are you against abortions and women's freedom?
Yes, it is your own poll, yet if must be a more broadened, fair poll for people to really want to vote

Show me where MSNBC is a forum for Democratic candidates like Fox is a forum for Republican candidates, that's one difference and there are plenty more. Like, MSNBC is not run by a former political operative like Roger Ailes...

I think this is funny because that's exactly what so-called news channels do. Dumbasdirt asked a question designed to get the answer desired.

What has happened to news reporting? No one just reports what they see. No one just reports answers given. Everyone wants to editorialize. Why should a newscaster's political opinion even matter to me? I don't ask my plumber to give me his worldview. I pay him to to fix a leak. Why would I ask a reporter to provide his worldview? All I want from him is to tell me what "real" people are doing are saying. When did news reporters become news?

My favorite thing is when one news reporter interviews another news reporter about a topic. What the? Does that just mean they don't have anyone of any worth to interview? I like these people, but they're not policy makers - why ask them? I'd rather they interviewed someone involved in the process. And, by "interview" I mean seek their opinion or answer, not slam them. Ask the tough questions and then let them answer. If you want to prove them wrong later, you'll likely have plenty of opportunity. I also appreciate hearing investigative reporting - research something, prove it, present it. But, then it has to be subject to scrutiny, too.

Not another bash FoxNews thread.... Just because they don't peddle a liberal slant=propaganda mill? Really? Let the Conservatives have their one news channel, the liberals already have basically all the others. Fox is more fair and balanced than others in my opinion, but it does have a right leaning slant.

I don't get my news from TV media outlets. I don't find it reliable. There are other options.

You will note that I said "turning into".

I focus on propaganda, framing, messaging. Don't care who's doing it.

That was the "epiphany" that brought me here.

Attack the "tools" of propagandists THEMSELVES, and leave partisanship out of it to the degree I realistically can, being human and opinionated as I am.

So in order to avoid hypocrisy, I can't just turn a blind eye when "my" side indulges in these practises.

Which MSNBC has been doing more and more lately.

They canned Olbermann and Uygar for this reason. They weren't going along with the "program". Maddow chortles with glee about who is winning the "messaging" wars. They have taken a side, as opposed to presenting an alternative viewpoint. I don't like it, but I HAVE to call it like I see it, NOT pretend I don't see it.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I advocate an end to dog FIGHTING, if that makes sense. Not by legislation. By rejection of these techniques by their target audiences.

Well said. There was a brief moment in time where I thoroughly enjoyed Fox News. For years now, though, the "tools" used there aren't any better than what I have long believed evident from CNN (Wolf Blitzer etal).

Only those who cheer the dripping bias on either side value what they watch. There is very little news. Could it be that there just isn't that much to report? I mean, I don't get much out of CSPAN.

Try overseas news outlets and blogs.

Try overseas news outlets and blogs.

Yeah

My news.

Your news.

Someone who hates me's news.

Someone who hates you's news.

And somebody who doesn't care's news. (If that can be found)

One shouldn't need to filter through that much news to get some accurate idea as to what's actually going on.

But that's how it is.
