Not much to talk about here you are just on a rampage. *PLONK*
Well...you could talk about your incessant dependence on the fed...or the actual topic. You could even make a post that wasnt a little one line drama driven drivel that sounds like it comes from someone on a Jerry Springer show. Seriously...you and several others here are the ones that CALL states losers, YOU pretend someone else is attacking the states, then act all miffed when I point it out.

Would you mind quoting the part where they share your view that the Depts. of Education and Transportation should be abolished? Thanks!

indeed - there are specified areas where the Federal Government is given authority. Madison called these "distinct and enumerated" powers.

And fortunately, the founders of the Constitution understood that times and circumstances would change and provided a process for those changes to be implemented by we the people.

it seems an increasing portion of the populace shares my interpretation; and Republican Candidates are announcing their intent to either end or severely curtail the Department of Education.

None of the candidates that call for the elimination of the Education and Transportation have a snowballs chance in hell of winning a general election. It is why the libertarian party only receive 0.4% of the vote in the last election.

and some states might choose not to force their people to breed, which would mean a loss for the country as a whole.

What????????? That might require some more explanation there, you think?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
- C S Lewis

"New knowledge is the most valuable commodity on earth. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we become."
- Kurt Vonnegut, Breakfast of Champions

thanks to public sector unions our education spending over the past few decades has exploded, even while test scores have generally flatlined, and drop-out rates have increased, especially in our minority populations. any attempt to reform the system to allow our poor a way into a more successful system is consistently and often effectively opposed by the Unions whose failure it highlights.

Before unions, minorities and the mentally impaired were not allowed in schools with the "normal" white kids. Charter schools were supposed to be the market place alternative to public schools. Only 17% that were exclusive because of costs attained better scores than public schools.

 even Democrats are abandoning Obama now. he's toast.

Obama's support is still head and shoulders above the support given to the libertarian views you espouse.

You and the other fed dependents are the only ones pretending that 1-under the fed involvement education is thriving and 2-those poor widdle states cant be responsible for their education needs. Geez...are you STILL attached to an umbilical cord too?

All I can suggest is you vote for the libertarian candidate that shares your views. With your support, who knows, they may just break the 1% of voters mark next year!

in fact we do.

No problem my friend, we just have to eliminate the tax cuts for the rich to repay the money taken from it to pay for the unfunded wars and raise the cap on FICA, and SS is set for the foreseeable future!

Government can create jobs.
The real question is, "Do those jobs actually add value to the economy at large, over time?"

Abolish all govt, federal, state, local law enforcement...then decide if they have a value...firemen too while your at it and EMTs and all first responders....get rid of teachers and have to babysit your own brats all day...of course govt jobs have a value...they are taken for granted because since the day you were born they were always there for you and most people view them as part of their life..

As it stands, I will. You feel free to continue to voting for your republicrats...and should you HAVE grandchildren...BEG their forgiveness, but OWN your role in the debt hell you have saddled them with.

I dont know vance..I wouldve voted for Ron Paul if he didnt want to legalize all drugs and give my grandchildren a better shot at being junkies...The fiscal side of libertarians is acceptable the social side is nuts

The little bit of the debt I have supported enables a better future for my grandchildren. Those that supported optional unfunded wars, a bloated military for the last decade, and tax cuts for the rich are the ones that will have to beg for forgiveness.

I get that. I wish they would get rid of the drug plank in their national platform. (of course...when I say such things I quickly get reminded by the 'real' libertarians that I cant be a 'real' libertarian).

You support democrats...sorry...you own it just as much as every pure republican voter. You both support republicrats. You both elect people that spend future generations money like crack whores. You own it. Be proud.

I supported the majority of Democrats who opposed our war with Iraq and the tax cuts for the rich. If there were more liberal candidates that had a chance of winning, I would vote for them. Like it or not, all our candidates are too far to the right, so I choose those that are the least to the right and still have a chance of winning. That is the Democrats.

and thats exactly whats wrong with them in my opinion

CHILD

No one denies infrastructure is necessary.

Have you seen your own posts?

No one denies there are levels of necessary spending.

Zero?

My earlier comments stand...I will create MILLIONS of jobs. I will send out armies of people to pick up trash...perform free babysitting, clean graffiti. All YOU have to do is give me the money. We wont charge anyone for the service (other than you-and dont worry...if you dont have the money you can pass the cost on to your kids...and your grandkids). You wont get a say in who I hire or what I have them do. We wont show a profit. But hey...THEY will have jobs. And your grandchildren will be stuck with the bill. Who cares how much it costs?

Except that isn't your argument. You basically characterize the entire government as those workers. Hence why you're not doing well right now. From NASA engineers producing new materials and new construction methods to mail carriers, they are all the same to you.

Hey, Obviously a Child...your tax argument aside...how much sustained national debt will your grandchildren be paying for the LAST round of 'stimulus' debt? Long term thinking (or...just...you know...thinking) not really a strong suit for ya huh?

Lots. There's no question about that. But it's better to pay more in taxes to pay for stimulus spending then to be poor and live in absolute poverty from an economic collapse. You still have not addressed my argument. And I don't think you want me getting really nasty to you, so how about you mature up and drop the partisan ****?

You haven't addressed why the 200K number is for retards. You going to be retard and keep using it?

Lets see...400 billion (rounded down) added to the last 800 billion...added to the existing debt

800 billion over 30 years isn't that much divided by the population. Furthermore, refinancing as Clinton did should bring it down the net interest significantly.

plus the reduction in credit rating

Which actually did nothing. Yields actually went down after that on government debt. Or were you completely unaware of that? I can start being really mean to you. Or you can start acting like an adult.

Tell me, what good is the economy if it does not exist? Simple question. Try.

Of course the government can create jobs. Hopefully someday it will take its diaper off and self fund itself like a real business and leave me the f alone.

Come again? Solyndra existed prior to the loan.

If the jobs at Solyndra were created by the Federal government, then it would first be a government agency and all the money would have been from the government. That is not the case.

You going to start using facts or just keep blabbering?

I was just going by what President Obama said. If he lied, don't blame me.

Then you would not be addressing our most wasteful spending and the source of most of our national debt. The Constitution only authorizes defense. By cutting our military expenditures by 2/3s we would still be the most powerful military on the planet.

We need the personnel. What needs to be investigated and probably adjusted is the Department of Defense and their procurement practices. What the military does is for our defense, even if you deny it. As for addressing wasteful spending, I think balancing the budget can be done and should not be all that hard. Of course, some people would whine about it, but that's okay.

Well...67% of the people here are pretty smart!

You mean just as some whine about cutting military spending by two-thirds?

You are misreading the actual poll results. Count the legitimate forum members that voted for each choice. Its one of the nice things about a public poll, you can tell if the results have been skewed by spammers.

Clearly, most forum members are smart enough to agree that the Government can and does create jobs.

Who pays for those services? Who pays those salaries. how are they financed? They exist and are able to exist because the PRIVATE SECTOR supports them. Without a private sector you can make however many fed jobs you want...no one will pay for them and your country goes bankrupt. Sort of...well...like what is happening NOW and like what you want to see happen FASTER.

Irrelevant. The OP asks whether the government can create jobs, not the funding mechanisms. I gave several examples of where it has. Do you disagree with them?

And some users here have the maturity of a toddler who cries when he can't get his way.

So we have 40 REAL people voting government can.

12 REAL people voting it can't, and one really immature prick spamming the vote 57 times in favor of can't. Seriously. Pathetic. Even for this place.

Smartest thing you've heard?

Dumbest thing you've heard?

Vote Maggots.

Yes the government can create jobs. The question is what kind of jobs and how much it should create. I know that at city and state level when the state and local governments are low on cash there are lay-offs and pay cuts.Unlike the federal government city and state governments can't keep borrowing.
