So you want to keep a relatively harmless drug illegal, which funds criminal organizations, much like prohibition did in the 20's, which also puts a huge unnecessary economic burden on us as a country with the drug war, and a prison population of non-violent drug offenders? Doesn't make sense digs.

Prohibition is precisely the analogy to use.

Potheads want their pot.

What if the legalization of pot adds wind to the sails of those who want other drugs legalized?

OMG! We may get to bring our troops home from Colombia, and may not have to deal with a civil war on our southern border after all. How awful!

So are you implying all drugs should be legalized?

Seriously addictive drugs need to be controlled, not outlawed. Outlawing them does not work and causes a myriad of other problems.

Non addictive drugs like pot should simply be legalized, then grown commercially on private land instead of surreptitiously on public land or smuggled from one place to another by gangs and cartels making huge profits to fuel their other illicit activities.

and drug addiction should be treated as a medical problem, not a legal one.

so what if it does? It's not as if prohibition works. If crack was legal, it wouldn't be an easier to get. In fact, I could buy crack easier than alcohol if I was under 21.

That a "majority" vote that hemp and marijuana stay illegal is disappointing.
I was wrong to think that we were progressive, rather than repressive(conservative).
We'll try again in another decade. Progress is slow..
And, have no fear, these can be smoked by other fools, NOT this one !

This makes sense, why do so many reject this reasoning ?
Man seems to be falling flat on his face over his ignorance and fear.

My theory is this:

Any politician who seriously advocated legalization, and had a chance of succeeding would either be thrown out of office by "conservatives" (really authoritarians, but they'll call themselves conservatives), or assassinated by the drug lords.

It's an unholy but powerful alliance.

Should the farming of hemp-producing Cannabis (Cannabis sativa) and or marijuana-producing Cannabis (Cannabis indica) be allowed in the U.S.?

It is allowed as long as you don't get caught.

He's saying it should be LEGAL.

And, technically, you are incorrect.

It being "allowed" is independent from whether you get caught or not.

I know, I was being funny, but everything is allowed until you are caught.

We look at things differently then.

As I see it, getting away with something does not mean it's allowed.

Just that you got away with it.

It's still "disallowed".
