It seems like I work with a lot of people who are obsessed with this trial, and some of them like to talk about it almost daily. I think it's kind of funny, because I am not obsessed with the trail and don't understand it.

The obsession seems pretty common though. The public observers in the courtroom are even becoming a spectacle. I also recall tourist to Florida insisting on the bus making a stop at Anthony house... This is all very odd to me, does anybody want to try to explain their obsession?

I don't understand it either. Just another example of how easily distracted many Americans are.

I don't know anyone who follows, talks or cares about the trial though. And yet the media continues to shove this story down my throat every time I turn on the news.

No. I looked it up after I heard some mentions about it, but frankly I find the media circus sickening. And I find people lining up to see it sickening. These people are entertaining themselves over a little girl's death.

This is the sort of thing that people who used to go to lynchings a few decades ago do these days.
 
I use to be fairly invested in the trial, but it's gotten way too personal and so I dropped my interest. It has been rekindled as it draws to a close. I hope Casey goes to jail, though. Disgusting!

Most people I know are following this case and you know what reallly annoys me? I bet if this was a black family it would not be getting this much press.

Little white girls getting killed or going missing seem to get a LOT more media press than little black kids. I have also noticed that missing female children seem to get more press over male missing children:(
 
I am exercising a "look away" policy. The details change and blahblah lies and so-and-so says something new and... well the whole thing is disgusting.

People get scared that the little girl was taken by a child molester, child ponography seller, or pedophile. Not as much a problem with boys. A lot of times they are killed outright.
 
Easy enough to explain; they're obsessed because she has a pretty face and a nice rack.

This is the first thread that I've opened up with the name Casey Anthony in the title and I won't be opening another. That shows how much interest I have in this subject.
 
The masses love trashy and tragic voyeurism. Springer has made millions doing this shtick.
 
The way the media nowadays have complete disregard for privacy, ethics, and knowledge turns my stomach over
 
NO! As a matter of fact, I'm getting tired of hearing about it.

If you aren't caught up then I'll tell you that Jose whatever-his-last-name-is and the defense have accused George Anthony of sexually abusing his daughter during her youth, and I think his granddaughter. I don't know how much has changed since Saturday, though.
 
It seems like most of the people into the trial are women and mothers... I think it's kind of strange. I know my own mom said that she felt like beating us when we were little kids because we would stress her out so much. It just makes me wonder how many other mothers have felt so stressed out or thought about drugging their kid to get some peace and quiet time.
 
I've been watching the trial on and off. Frankly, I find it fascinating that the prosecution has done so well with so little real evidence. I'm also amazed, and appalled, at how critically inept and bumbling Anthony's defense team has been.

My prediction: She'll be convicted of 2nd degree murder, which will be overturned on appeal because (a) there isn't enough evidence to support a conviction and (b) inadequate defense.

It's a shame, because I'm sure that she knows exactly what happened to that baby and is responsible, either directly or through gross neglect, for that precious child's death.
