Men have the male version of PMS

Do men have a form of PMS once a month?

I wouldn't say it's a monthly thing like with women, but there is definitely man PMS. There exists the mental phenomena known as manstruation, although it is not cyclic and can occur at many times. Each guy has their trigger that I think sets things into motion.

Def true.
I had a rage moment last Friday.
That is totally out of the norm for me.

It's all about a specific trigger.

Yup, men have PMS. Although for them it's called IMS (irritable male syndrome).

Men do go through andropause, but men also have cycles. They're daily, rather than monthly like for women. Testosterone levels are highest in the morning and gradually fall through the day.

And like for women, symptoms may vary even within the same person. My PMS symptoms aren't always the same. Some months are worse than others.

Mega, you may be having sympathetic symptoms with your wife. There is no monthly cycle that I'm aware of for men, but that's a pretty common phenomena between partners who live together.

What really blew my mind, though, was when I had a partner who could tell exactly where I was in my cycle by how I smelled. What made this impressive is that once every few months, I'll skip a week or two randomly - like my cycle is re-setting itself. So it wasn't a matter of him just memorizing how long my cycles are. Even when it would "reset" he would be able to tell before I would. It was really strange.

Perhaps, but it's not just once a month - it could be more freqent or less and there's a sure fire cure.

The Male Hormonal Cycle

Food for thought. I was watching The Big Bang Theory the other day, and Sheldon mentioned a 33 day male hormonal cycle, and I thought it sounded interesting, and probably valid (most of the stuff on the show is valid science), so I googled that and up came this blog.

I stand corrected. I was only aware of the daily cycle.

Interesting. I wonder now if men and women "sync up," a la megaprogram. :D

I don't know if it's documented, true or false, but I would swear I've seen men acting like they were about to burst into tears at that time of the month.

BDBoop, the only thing I have noticed is that I followed with a couple day delay (or delay a couple a few days) my wife’s cycle. I was always easily corrected. Now we don’t have any periods where my mood changes. I just have to work at it a bit harder now, but I can have drugs to straighten things out now and keep my mood up beat. (This is just too much fun. thx)
