Repression/supression...good or bad or other

I was thinking of Galilei at the time and what he had to endure from the power in control at that time (the Catholic Church)..
Yet, even in the face of death, he persisted.. And this is but one little example...
Not that I favor any repression, but it seems as if this brings out the best in man..
As to music(the music of today)...now that "suppression" has been removed, the music (so-called) is horrible..Apparently anything goes....all kinds of utter noise...shouting and screaming....

And, this level of suppression is not necessarily a bad thing, but then, people have a tendency to be extreme. Galileo's time - the church was extremely repressive, over the years this has "softened", thank goodness.
Government can also be "extreme", their safety agenda is a case in point.
