John Huntsman

Does former Utah governor John Huntsman have a real, viable chance at the Republican

Only if a Conservative is not nominated.
Why vote for the Democrat-lite when you can have the real Marxist?

Why not vote for a real marxist? Because most Americans aren't hyperpartisan buffoons, they're moderates. The middle of the political spectrum dwarfs, to a significant degree, the extremes at either end. The democrats figured this out (hence the Obama victory), many conservatives are still breathing the limited oxygen inside their own large intestines.

I know that this is going to rock your world, but Obama isn't very liberal, and he isn't at all close to marxism/socialism. Only a moron who hasn't studied political science would espouse the rhetoric that he is.

Ah. You mileage may vary.
The one term president Obama grew up with Marxism and radicalism. He cannot help it. But we can. Anybody but the Marxist.

Please, feel free to elaborate on Obama's marxist/radical policies. Congrats on the work you're doing to re-elect Obama, btw. The more the right succumbs to this sort of nonsense, the greater the likelihood that they will lost the crucial center. It's not YOU that a candidate needs to persuade, it's swing voters like me, who look at posts/rhetoric like yours and think your party has done lost it's goddamn mind.

LOL. Anybody is more qualified than the one term president Obama. Anybody.

Is this constant repetition of non-factual statements, coupled with pithy phrases like "one term president," all you've got? NVM..rhetorical question. The answer is obvious. If only we had fewer partisan parrots on this board, your posts might be unique, but sadly, unthinking appears to be the norm these days, in some circles.

I won't do your homework for you. Plenty of people have already written the articles, made the connection and given the evidence. I can offer you a search service that does a remarkable job of finding relevant data. It is a small company that does not get much publicity. I use their free service nearly every day. Oh, their name? It is a bit silly but they call themselves "Google." I know. Goofy name. Try them. Google

Huntsman is a serious candidate who could well win the nomination but, dear Lord, he is deadly dull.

Yeah people like Beck who also seems to think Rockefeller was a Marxist, LOL.

I know this is new to you, but when you make an affirmative claim, you have a logical responsibility to provide evidence to support and bolster the claim. The burden of proof rests with the affirmative. Your post suggests that you have zero evidence, and you're just repeating something you heard on a fox news broadcast or Michele Bachman speech. Either way, I'm laughing at you.

I don't know anything about him. I do know his father, John Huntsman Sr., gives millions and millions of dollars to charity and has one of the best cancer research centers in America.

It's because of mormon speak. They learn to speak like that as little kids at fast & testimony meeting. It's kind of like the commentators on NPR, who seem to pride themselves on having as little vocal inflection as possible.

I lived in Utah for 10 years, he's like a god out west. Small g, of course.

Does he? I think I remember Rockefeller from my youth. He was liberal. And that is why we describe the McCains as being from the Rockefeller wing of the Republican party. That side of the party is the Me too! crowd. They want to do the same things the Democrats do but just a little less. Ugh. No thanks.

Who is John Huntsman? I don't even know who he is.

He is a decent, moderate Republican, who thinks he needs to be the President. Who knows, on the Rockefeller side of the party they all think it is their turn. Think Dole. Think McCain...

Think Dole. Think McCain. Neither have been president so I am guessing Huntsman won't either? The GOP need someone who is known by America.

Misterverisitis represents what the Republican party of today has become. There is no room for independents, moderates....and even for true conservatives anymore. It belongs to the right-wing radicals.

The problem with that, however, is that the Republicans who are "known by America" are not electable. IF the GOP stands ANY chance in the next election, they better find an outside soon that America will actually vote for. The current lot of front-runners are weak.

I agree completely.

There is plenty of room. But Conservatives are taking back control of the party. It is a great thing.

Agreed with disneydude. Romney is the front runner, and seems electable, but his problems are many:
- He has flip-flopped on everything from abortion to gay marriage to health care to TARP to the auto bailouts (twice) to the Iraq War
- Because of this and other things, he has a real authenticity problem
- He's a Mormon, which those evangelicals might have a problem with, which gives him some issues in the ever-important south
- The party establishment really does not like him very much (which is why they urged Christie, then Daniels, now Perry all to jump in...they want someone, ANYONE else)
- He often chokes when it matters most (that health care speech he gave last month was supposed to turn the tide in that debate, but he did a pretty terrible job with it)
- He's a one-issue candidate right now basically, putting all his chips on the table in the hopes that the economy stays terrible. If things turn around in 6 months or a year (or even a year and a half), it's hard to see what his platform becomes
- His path to the nomination is tougher than what most front runners are used to seeing

So Romney may well get the nomination, but I think the only way he beats Obama is if the nation feels absolutely miserable economically, which may not be the case a year and a half from now. Huntsman is a much more formidable general election candidate; luckily for people like me, who want Obama to win, it doesn't look like the GOP is ready to embrace him.

True conservatives are being shunned by the current GOP....they are being pushed out by the radical right-wing wackos....whose only concern is to promote their radical big government social agenda. The GOP has little interest in the principles of true conservatism anymore.

Disagree? Just look at the agenda that the GOP has pursued since regaining the house...it has had little focus on the economy...its all been about promoting the right-wing big government social agenda.
