OK since this involves Palin the objective people will have to keep it on track while the hacks derail it.

I'm curious what everyone thinks about this type of pandering. I mean ALL politicians pander but where is your line. Again this involves palin only because it's her picture that made me think of it.

To be fair PLEASE fill free to post extreme examples of pandering by any and all politicians and we can address those too. We can discuss when its to much, its just natural and acceptable or when its simply wrong and disingenuous.

Don't bother me at all. I would wear jeans to a party and dress clothes to an event. What's the difference?

LOL

I agree to many people they probably dont care but wearing the Star of David around your neck one day and then a Cross around your neck another day probably doesnt sit well with a lot of people.

For example what if a politician come out to all the pro gays rights rallies etc etc but then you found out he secretly donated and funneled large amounts of money into ant-gay groups?

Just saying how a person could view extreme catering by politicians, ALL politicians not just palin.

I really dont think that example works AT ALL in the context of your OP.

One could argue wearing the star is simply support for Israel, and wearing the other is support for her own religion.

Not something I would personally do but hey, to each his own.

oooooh make no mistake about it I dont think my example was a "parallel" either I was simply pointing out that "pandering" is different for each of us.

While I also agree with you I think you said it perfect in the end. "No something you would do"

and thats my point, Im sure theres many out there that dont think you should be switching religious symbols around you neck no matter the reason other than you converted and even then people would like that.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong per say. But it does make one seem very transparent (for lack of a better word). It's more of a vapid personality where one doesn't show their true self, but whatever mask they want to portray at that time. I don't know, to me while I wouldn't say it should be illegal or it's wrong, I think it makes one look very shallow.

Well definitely not illegal. Just vapid and shallow like you said and I also think pandering to big in general is wrong.

Politicians pandering!! Isn't that one of the signs that Wednesday is coming?

Of course, its as common as thew sun coming up. Id like people to give examples and where the line is for them.

For example on a minor scale I wonder how many sports jerseys politicians have worn in different cities at different colleges etc etc I bet a bunch :)

I don't have a problem with what she's doing, but I don't really see the point in it.

Meh, nonissue.

Interestingly enough I'm in the process of making mashed potatoes for dinner.

Can you think of other pandering and where would you draw your line? or you dont have one.

LMAO

I actually had them today too, along with steak, green beans and Cheese/broccoli/rice casserole

I don't have a problem with pandering in general. Politicians do it all the time. At some point, pandering can become so blatantly obvious as to backfire on the person who's doing it, so politicians themselves have to toe a certain line when they do it. None of it affects, me, personally.

In light of Obama's comments about Israel going back to 1967 borders on May 19th ....I think Palin had a very blatant political motive for wearing the star of David, and making sure it was visible, especially for the media.

I agree with this, but in the end I don't really care, it's a "meh" issue to me.

I don't think any one is denying it was a political move to wear it. The question is whether it is inappropriate.

Really stretching for bash Palin topics. Are legit bashing topics for her becoming harder to find?

Is it too much pandering? Yes it is.

But, then again, that's exactly what Sarah Palin's supporters love the most about her.

The Star of David on a Goy girl like Palin doesn't ring true.

I am happy to see that the cross is right side up.

uhm, Guess you should read the OP or read it again lol

Dont know what hillary did nor is that the question I want to know where do people draw their own line or if they even have one.
Please post examples though so people can voice their opinions on that too.

Personally this doesnt bother "me" because its palin, I dont expect much from her and no pandering would make me think worse or better of her.

But say it was a politician I really supported or like there is definitely a line i have where I would bail on that candidate.
