Yes, he should resign - it would be the dignified thing to do. This type of behavior is so juvenile - something teenagers do who don't know any better. Weiner is 45 years old not some 12 year old girl. He SAYS he's taking responsibility but not by ultimately taking responsibility. A person with scruples, any shred of class would just come out and admit it, say his resignation is immediate and that's it.

If we got rid of every Congressman and Senator who did something juvenile then they maximum amount of time each one served in their position would be lucky to get to the 3-month mark.

Re: Now that the hard Weiner has been identified and admitted to lying, should he res

we do not have the right to demand he resign - only his constituents have that. but as a man, he should.

...... and is that an argument for, or against?

Re: Now that the hard Weiner has been identified and admitted to lying, should he res

No because it has nothing to do with "governing" so to say. Its moral personal issue.

It's an argument against.

It's not illegal or against the House's rules to be juvenile. Neither is adultery.

Now he may make the choice to resign based on all this. But that's his choice to make.

Yes?
No?

.

Why does it matter to you, zimmer? Do you want vindication? Do you feel you must strike a weakened target?

Agreed. However when that same Congressman then floats out ludicrous denials, accusations, etc., and the liberal blogs back him blowing this into a huge issue while the lies pile up --- credibility goes out the window. There's a difference between just doing or saying something stupid (Which happens in Congress every day), and Weiners situation. If you're saying they are the same thing, you're being dishonest.

If the Dems are smart, they will throw him under the bus very soon. This is a presidential election year - and Weiner is now a liability.

Re: Now that the hard Weiner has been identified and admitted to lying, should he res

No, he shouldn't. The people of his district elected him to do a job, and he still has a duty to them. He should suck it up and do what he was elected to do.

Re: Now that the hard Weiner has been identified and admitted to lying, should he res

Same as I'd say with a Republican.

If no law is violated, I see no reason to resign unless there is a strong urge for him to do so by his constituents, and even then I'd not blame him for not resigning.

If its not a violation of the law, or an ethics violation that will likely have him removed from the chambers anyways, I see no reason for a legislator to resign. If their constituents are unhappy with it they'll either recall him or vote him out. If we allow he media to "embarass" senators into resignation based on nothing but embarassment then we walk down a dangerous and sad place for America.

No, Weiner shouldn't resign. And its a sad state of affairs that once again crap like this is the main focus of our political news sector.

indeed. When the republicans had their craigslist photo scandal, Boehner went to the guy's apartment and told him to be gone in 24 hours. Cost us a seat - but worth it.

MSNBC's Ed Schultz To Anthony Weiner: Resign

..."Congressman there is only one person who can end this story -- you. You got to take one for the team. The country. Your constituents. And your party. They all deserve better. Congressman Weiner has put Nancy Pelosi in an untenable position. The Democratic Leader has already called for an ethics investigation, so what does that tell you? I don't see any Democrats out there on the cables tonight just jumping to supporting Anthony Weiner. This know what this means. They know how tough this road is going to be and they shouldn't have to shoulder it. Congressman Weiner. He says he takes full responsibility? I take issue with that. Not really.

After nude pictures came out and he couldn't manage it anymore then the responsibility started. I think that this is an issue of character.

Now, as an American worker put yourself in the Congressman's position. He's tweeting pictures to a girl half his age on company time and lying about it to the boss. By the way, you're the taxpayer. You're the boss. Do you think you would survive that in your workplace? Maybe you would. Maybe that's just the way America and society is now. I have no interest in Congressman Weiner's private life. He and his wife, I think, have got quite a bit to deal with and work out at this point. He made this a public issue. He did it. When he lied repeatedly during a media tour that lasted a week. This is about trust. Do you trust what he says now? This is about character. And this is about the people and what the people of this country deserve in elected officials...

Re: Now that the hard Weiner has been identified and admitted to lying, should he res

Really, zim? Two posts with "hard Weiner" in the title within 60 minutes? Sounds like we're a little obsessed with the guys dong.

(Was it actually hard in the photo? I haven't seen, and frankly I prefer not to.)

You should have had a "not sure" option. That would be my answer. If it's clear in a couple of days that his constituents want that, then yes he should."

ROTFLOL... no... I made one post in another thread about this, but now that he is a proven liar, I posted a thread about his admission, and now a poll question.

Seems like you are a defender of this now limp, wilting and whining Weiner; just might miss his hanging about? Why?

As for the "not sure" option... if you're not sure whether this dick should resign, I don't want you to vote. Who cares if you can't figure it out. Get back to us when you have.

Where is your link Homeboy!! Are you really stupid enough to think we would just take your word for it??
Yeah... I made it up. I hacked his account too. I forced him to lie about it. Ahhhhhh... genius... perhaps you could go read the headlines of some news sites... or aren't the journ-O-lists reporting this?

What is with you republicans.. First you were worried about where Clinton was putting his or not putting his
Another thicker than a brick Lib that still thinks the Clinton impeachment was about sex.
Doh... did you just escape from a spider hole in Osama's cavesion, or were you stranded on a tropical isle with Wilson?

Do you know why Clinton was impeached? He lied under oath before a Grand Jury. He attempted to deny someone their day in court with those lies. People serve serious time for that, and Clinton lost his law license and was fined for it. He shouldn't only have been impeached, but removed and perp walked to jail for a spell, like any other common perjurer.

Now you know the truth. Chew on it for a while.

As been said.. This isn't any of our business
When a Congressman is flashing his dick on Twitter, the Twitter makes it our business. Someone can turn around and blackmale said politician for his idiocies. He could be doing this with minors, and he admitted he didn't know how old the recipients were. He's a Congressman, not some leftist from Hollyweird.

That said, I think it's fitting he didn't resign. It reflects well on the party.

And as a final note... I see you're all excited about the dick and his weiner. Perhaps you should twitter him.
