it was clarified that functionality was NOT a consideration ... only the "style" of the American autos of that era

I don't need soul, my soulless machine goes faster. :D:D

Faster than a Super Snake?

Shelby Motors built twenty two 427 competition roadsters. In 1965, one was selected and converted into a special model called the 427 "Cobra to End All Cobras." The first one of these (number CSX3015) was originally part of a European promotional tour before its conversion. This conversion called for making the original racing model street legal with mufflers, a windshield and bumpers amongst other modifications. But some things were not modified, including the racing rear end, brakes and headers. The most notable modification is the addition of Twin Paxton Superchargers. This gave the car a claimed 800 brake horsepower (600 kW) and 800 lb·ft (1,085 N·m) of torque at 3000 rpm.

I'd trade a testicle for that. :)

I don't know if it's worth a testicle... does it have bluetooth?

That type of car suits older, nearly retired gentlemen. It'd be a pretty hot car but it wouldn't suit my young looks necessarily.

But... if it had twisted metal style weapons on it...

Shelby's original model, CSX3015, was kept by Carroll Shelby himself over the years as a personal car, sometimes entering it into local races like the Turismos Visitadores Cannonball-Run race in Nevada, where he was "waking [up] whole towns, blowing out windows, throwing belts and catching fire a couple of times, but finishing."

Good enough?

You want fast

Porsche 911 Turbo S, great looking car that is as good looking as any Porsche from the 60s and almost the 50s

Or the new Corvette

chevrolet-corvette-zr1-rear.jpg

Faster and as well styled as any vette of the 50-60's

The new Charger

Some of the cars today are very well styled, some not so much. Some of the cars from the 50-60 were dull and boring designs, others classics

In the vette, yes they could have done far better then they have. It is a poor interior in a car with one of the worlds best engines, and great sports cars

I notice that in alot of the newer american sportscars I see, pretty good an unique design, very modern and competitive, but the interiors tend to be sortof bleh. I like wooden interiors from the village trees of virtually extint societies in temperate jungle areas, and the ivory of the rarest species. Not to mention an engine lubed with the grease of snow leopard livers. Anything to speed the demise of rare valuable creatures... only making my possession of their remains more valuable.

The Mustang, Camaro are built to a price point, which does not allow for great interiors. The Mustang engines are great and its performance (GT) is as good as the BMW M3 at about 60% of the price of the M3. It is faster and better around the track then my 370z but thousands less. Those dollars came from the interior

GMs Cadilac CTS is a beautiful car with a beautiful interior on par with the germans in quality of the materials (and with the ZR1 engine as fast or faster)

My 2005 Mustang convertible has a great interior...

I don't know about the 2011's though.

Seems a little dull to me, probably saved money on the car manufacturing. I dont know about these things.

I don't know about the 2011's though.

The styling is fairly similar with an improvement in the materials. The 2006 year has good style but uses hard and cheaper plastics then the new 2010. The 2011 model has the new 5 L V8 with 412HP, a world class engine, in a world class car (rather to large though for much of Europe though

The design is done in a more classic style, like what Mustangs had in the 60s. It is a very well done interior style but generally used cheaper materials to keep costs down. The Mustang is a performance bargin

THIS is a great interior.

Nothing but the essentials. :)

Oh no, the picture is B&W so you can't really see the leather trim and the beautiful saddle leather interior. This with the retro and chroma lined dash and gages give it a nice touch of old and new.

I agree, but I did not want a race car. I owned a 98 and 2000 Cobra. Never again, lol.

The Mayor should recognize it is incredibly bad form to **** up a perfectly good thread about cars with politics. Perhaps The Mayor should check to see if that 'life' he ordered used from the Pawn Shop has come in yet...

You should recognize that there's a reason cars are boring today.

The Mayor has no desire to purchase your life.

You're making me miss my toys.

Oddly enough, though I like my cars old, the majority of them were new, with the exception of a 1966 Mustang that looked just like this:

1967-Mustang-Arcadian-Blue.jpg

I also had a '00 Stage 2 Roush that looked like this:

...which I traded for an '04 Cobra that looked like this:

Then I got settled down, had kids and now all I drive is this:

Sad story... I know.

That first one is of course a 1967. How did your '66 look like that?

YOu could have put the MUstang in the place of the '64 Flacon, as that is what that '60 Falcon evolved into.

Have you ever driven a new generation Corvette?

It has so much road noise from the tires you can't even hear the radio.

Not a car to drive every day thats for sure.

Are you serious with this?

My husband souped up the GTO - put in a new camshaft and brought it down to a 114. . .that thing feels like a vibrator on wheels.

Hey! :violin:
I have a folk's wagon with that horse power and I'm making other drivers pretty nervous with it. ;)
