IMO this is exactly why chat dies and no one wants to bother (especially women). It's a sausage fest and guys cannot chat very long about anything without their dicks getting in the way. They want women there, so they can try out cheap and decomposed pick up lines and let the discussion digress into vomiting sexual innuendo. If I want some pickle tickle, it's not going to happen over chat....

We've discussed sexual topics in the chat, and I'm asked for a boob shot at least once a night, but the guys have been very respectful. If their behavior bothered me I know without question that they would discontinue it. The biggest problem I have is that most of the topics are guy-centric (sports, cars, weapons, etc) and I can only contribue so much to that. Other than that, it's actually been quite fun.

I like dick and fart jokes, too! Raunchy comedies, british comedies, etc. But by all means, let's discuss The Notebook. That'd make my night. :)
 
I could talk about The Notebook as well. I only really enjoyed the parts with the old people. It seemed to escape the...blandness I was experiencing throughout the rest of the movie :p

I cried twice during the movie. When Noah gives his speech to Allie, telling her she has to chose for herself and stop running from decisions, and when the old couple died together at the end.

I was more moved by the older portrayal of the characters than the young ones. Don't ask me on further details, lest my manliness be put into question.

I'm just impressed that you've seen it. I keep trying to trick my boyfriend into watching it, but he's been pretty stealthy so far.
 
In all honesty, it's rather easy to see. Most romances have a seemingly 5-10 year span of attention by its primary audience. The Notebook was rather new, and thus I saw it within the past 2 or 3 years.

I have opened myself up to the possibility of watching said "chick flicks." Some can be quite good, even if they seem to bask in their girliness (Confessions of a Shopaholic) It actually inspired me recently to try to look at political romance dramas or comedies. I find it peculiar that within a 3 year span in the 1990s, we had two romantic-comedy-dramas that focused on the President of the United States being a bachelor of some sort or another.

I don't analyze that much..but I do find that most Rom-coms or straight romances follow a pretty typical progression... meet-love-separate-discover-happy/bittersweet ending.

Yeah, I agree. For instance, I went with family (when I had nothing better to do, of course!) to watch Letters to Juliet. I thought it was pretty darn good, especially with what seemed to be a somewhat unique premise, but I nearly gagged on my soda (it may have been influenced with how ungodly close we were to the screen in such a small theater) when I saw some of the ending ("oh no I fell harmlessly to the ground!" "oh my, god, are you okay my love?" "I'm ****ing awesome. Let's kiss" "Okay."-end scene).
