[W:444:664] Logic 101: How To Properly Reason

Re: Logic 101: How To Properly Reason

the argument is valid but not sound...
The only way the argument can be unsound, as explained earlier in this thread, is in the case that an antecedent is true and its consequent false. All other truth values result in a sound argument.

The "argument" is worthless but Angel doesn't have any clue why
Angel doesn't do logic
"Worthless" is not a logical term or category.

He's likes magic... you can't argue with magic.
I hate magic. Magic is a trick.

You also cant argue with someone who fails to comprehend why his "arguments" are worthless but thinks they have "proved" whatever nonsense they are going on about.
You're out of your depth in this matter, Quag. I recommend circumspection.

Why would you want too, he is espousing truth as a matter of faith... and peoples faith is a matter of subjective experience not objective truth... i think those two things are by nature antithetical.

He thinks his subjective experience is objective truth

He is wrong

yes, definitely in my opinion.
If you find yourself of the same opinion as expressed in Quag's posts in this thread, your understanding of the conditional argument may need tutoring.

No idiot, god's existence is not a factual.... therefor something not that might not exist cannot create anything... the argument is not sound because it is not factual....

TILL RAGNAROK COME

Smile when you call someone an idiot, friend. You're the one who doesn't understand the conditional argument, so you might want to dial back on the name-calling, especially as this is the "Philosophy" forum, where you're supposed to be advancing arguments, not calling names.

Namaste

I'm sorry but every time i see you use the term "namaste" improperly i cannot help but notice and laugh at your idiocy.

It is only sound if you can show the premise to be true.

If God created life on earth

Please show that this is a true statement and not just an opinion that can also be false.

Not at your own? "Namaste" cannot be misused as a salutation.

That's not the premise. It is not even a statement. It is a conditional clause used in a statement that serves as a premise.

It is a greeting, your ending all your posts with the equivalent of the word "Hello"

For the premise to true, God must exist... prove that

That is incorrect. As I said, you don't understand the conditional form. I posted its truth table above.

Namste

I understand it perfectly well, you statement uses a valid argument but is not sound because it is factually incorrect. Every premise is false.

If you can post this, then you don't understand the semantics of the conditional.

The sentence I just wrote is a conditional. The only way the sentence is false is if you did post what I quoted and you do understand the conditional. That's the only way it is false.

Re: Logic 101: How To Properly Reason

In Hinduism, Namaste is a common spoken valediction or salutation originating in the Indian subcontinent. It is a customary greeting when individuals meet, and a valediction upon their parting.
Namaste - ReligionFacts

It is not a valediction... that is an american bastardization of the term. I have been to India they are laughing at you too.

Even if God exists and God created life on earth it doesn't mean "there is a special Providence in the fall of a sparrow"
And even if "there is a special Providence in the fall of a sparrow" it doesn't mean all life is sacred

Those are just claims Angel cannot prove and there is no reason whatsoever to assume they are.

Were talking formal logic, not grammar, the IF part does no absolve you from being factually correct in the premise.

Again, the "if part" as you call it is not the premise.

Namaste or नमस्ते (“I bow to the divine in you”) is a respectful form of Greeting used for salutation and valediction

Namaste (/ˈnɑːməsteɪ/, Hindi: [nəməsteː] ( listen))), sometimes spoken as Namaskar, Namaskaram is a respectful form of greeting in Hindu custom, found on the Indian subcontinent mainly in India and Nepal and among the Indian diaspora. It is used both for salutation and valediction. Namaste is usually spoken with a slight bow and hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest. This gesture is called Añjali Mudrā or Pranamasana.

Namaste is derived from the Sanskrit nama, meaning "bow," and te, meaning "to you." A common salutation and valediction in the Hindu culture, namaste literally means, "I bow to you."

On a more profound level, namaste signifies one soul recognizing and honoring the holiness of another. The salutation is often offered by yoga instructors at the beginning or conclusion of a class. In this sense, namaste is invoked to acknowledge the spiritual connection, or oneness, achieved by souls experiencing the practice of yoga together.

I will refrain from discussing religious matters in the philosophy forum, but I will just say that premises don't have to be factual in order to be valid.

Remember, a "fact" ("factual") does not mean that something is a universal truth. Rather, a "fact" is shorthand predicate (when a given True is accepted by all parties). If this isn't the case, then that "fact" ceases to exist and returns to an argument.

i didn't say it's not valid i said it wasn't sound.
