God commands disobedience to his word

The REALITY is that nobody living knows what the intent or exact literal interpretation of scripture is.

What if there is no intent or exact interpretation? It may just be a literary phenomenon that contingently accrued over the centuries, with no ultimate real purpose or intent. It's like wondering what the ultimate purpose of an underground cavern or a mountain is. What if the reason it's so hard and controversial to interpret is that it's just a bunch of random literature and writings, in all sorts of languages from Hebrew to Greek, over the course of many centuries, even milllenia, from all sorts of hodge podge cultures and people with all sorts of different agendas and purposes when they wrote what they did, copied and re-edited and modified by many others. It would explain all the contradictions and inconsistencies and vagueness.

So as far as what it really means: it may be vague and abstract enough that it's like those Rorschach tests psychologists use to figure out what's in someone's head than what the figure actually is. The figure itself really doesn't have an intention or isn't "really" anything. It just brings out what is in the patient's head. That explains why people as different as Mother Teresa and the KKK can read the same thing and have it come out saying such radically different things. It is a mirror to us as individuals and cultures, not a guide.

What do YOU see?

I see an ink blot

Ok, who wants to hear the Rorschach ink blot joke?

Yes, it was justified. God told them to do it,

God ordering the murder of infants is not justified. It's evil. I don't need God's permission to judge this act as evil.

No comprehension at all, then.

Here it is again simplified: God is God and you're not.

Not good enough. I don't take orders from evil beings merely because they're powerful.

Gonna stop you right here. The commandment is thou shall not murder. So you should do a little more research before you bring up the topic and accuse others of not knowing scripture

You shall not murder (Exodus 20:13)

Amen to that. Pretty much spoils PopeADope's little anti-Bible party, LOL!

Most of these people have never done any serious study on the Bible - they just engage in superficial arguments and think they're the professors of Bible right and wrong.

But butchering the innocent unborn via abortion is quite okay, right?

At least God takes the infants to heaven. The PC crowd just takes them to the incinerators.

The Bible is just a collection of various religious propaganda writings. What's there to study? How the writers exercised their imaginations? It can be studied the same as any other work of fiction is studied, but that doesn't change the fact that it is fiction.

Unborn children never took Jesus Christ as their lord and savior and therefore cannot get into heaven. That was the deal, wasn't it?

Abortion ends a life before it ever was a life to begin with, causes no pain. God then takes this alleged soul and punishes it forever.

Eternal punishment is worse than anything a human being could ever possibly do. It's infinite, and humans can only cause finite trauma. Eternal punishment is literally worse than Hitler.

If your god exists, he is the most evil being that could possibly exist because he causes an infinite amount of pain.

Prove that this god and heaven exist.

Stop posting this sort of thing, it adds nothing to the discussion. That's not how faith works in the first place. You're just taking up space.

I see no problem with asking to people to back up their claims.

Evidence is not how religion works. You're well aware of that. This is a discussion about someone's belief. You should discuss it in that context.

Ok, fair enough.
