I do agree that not all Christians are "young earthers" but it looks like Secretary of Education(what a joke) Betsy deVos is and she wants federal funds to go to schools that teach creationism.

Voucher Schools Championed By Betsy DeVos Can Teach Whatever They Want. Turns Out They Teach Lies.

These schools teach creationism, racism and sexism. They’re also taking your tax dollars.

These schools are among thousands in the United States that participate in private school choice programs, which most often come in the form of state-level voucher or tax credit scholarships. Voucher programs offer publicly funded financial aid to parents for private schools. Tax credit programs usually offer individuals or corporations tax credits if they donate to a scholarship granting organization, which in turn offers private school scholarships based on various criteria, including income.

President Donald Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos have openly championed such programs and have encouraged states to embrace school choice, arguing that voucher programs give parents an alternative to low-performing public schools.
Denying science, keeping kids from learning about the real world is a great way to prevent working-class Americans from bettering themselves; one might begin to think the destruction of public education is a long wished-for goal by a certain element. Trump’s election may be the second coming for creationism in schools
“And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.”
~ James Madison, letter to Edward Livingston, July 10, 1822
