PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals  ..........

It's not so much about ethics as it is cultural acceptability. Various cultures eat pigs, dogs, guinea pigs, and tarantulas.

There is no ethical difference between eating a pig and a dog, just social custom.

They are animals too ...

I would never eat a dog or cat.But if thats what some people eat then that is what they eat. Some eat a dog or cat as a delicacy. To some people eating a cart or dog might be something they grew up eating.Sort of like like rednecks who eat bear, aligator, squirrel, raccoons, possum and pretty much any other critter with four legs. While some its the only meat they can get and they can't afford to buy some beef or pork or some other regular live stock animal that we in well to do countries take for granted.

I think it's just fine to go Wok the dog.

I ask it to teh ones who defend hunting ,eatng meat but feed dogs at home

Ethical..."involving questions of right and wrong behavior"

Depends on their purpose...if it's a family pet then prolly not a good idea.

If it's a hunting dog that helps bring food to the dinner table then it's prolly not a good idea to eat the dog.

If it's a hunting dog that isn't any use...you gotta eat something while training a new dog.

Depends on the culture.

It is culture dependent and/or starvation dependent Back in the early 60s, our SERE group killed and ate a coyote and a rattlesnake because you live off the land in the mountains for a week eating only what you kill. A coyote always seems like a dog to me. It was OK. Starving refugees eat whatever they can, opportunity dependent. In truth, we should all probably be vegans to be moral eaters. I never knowingly ate cat, but I was in the Far East and you don't always know what you're eating and cat is popular there. Plenty of room for moral dilemna.

In İslam it is allowed to eat pork if you are dying of hunger.

By whose standards? Dogs and Cats are meat. Just because we turned them into pets and with dogs, working dogs at times doesn't mean it's wrong to eat them. People have eaten horse and mule which we also use or used as work animals and domesticated. I don't have a problem with it, now I am sure those who belong to PETA would surely find it unethical. To each his own. You get hungry enough, you'll eat almost anything, some anything at all.

I find hunting unethical too

You would eat ? NO.....Lets be honest

Not unless there was no other option. I wouldn't eat a lot of things unless there was no other option.

But it's not unethical for someone to eat a cat or dog. They are animals.

Rabbits are popular pets, yet we in the west are happy to eat rabbits.

Some other creatures may eat us humans because we are just humans

I hear dog is really good, actually. I get warm and fuzzy when I see a deer at a petting zoo, but I love me some venison.

I think if you deem eating one animal as being ethical, you kind of make it open season on all animals...near extinct species excluded of course, unless heavily managed by some kind of game authority. I mean...lamb is commonly eaten...and if they didn't grow up into annoying sheep, everyone would have one of those as a pet...lol.... I don't think that one culture's fondness for an animal should prevent another culture from harvesting a traditional food source. if you don't like it, don't eat it.

And before anyone goes off about "Oh, but look at how bad the dogs are treated", do a bit of research into how animals are treated in factory farms in North America.

PS: I'm a huge dog and cat person, I would not be into this at all...hehe...but I also do my best not to be a hypocrite either...

I find hunting unethical too

I hunt and fish. Keep everything and eat it. What I don't do and find unethical is sport hunting where one just kills for a trophy. Keep the meat and eat it, fine. I've been hunting and fishing ever since I was 8 years old or there about.

Cats? Sure they are just like any other animal. Dogs? Heck no. They were key to our survival and evolution. I don't even like dogs as pets, and I know that without dogs humans wouldn't have survived, let alone dominated the food chain. It's even thought, that if we ever visit alien worlds we have to take dogs with us or we will go insane. Eating a dog is like eating your adopted brother or sister.
